So the conclusion regarding the very knock-like sound when blipping the throttle from idle (stock at least) is that it’s normal and typical? Even if it’s actual knock?

I’m honestly a little disappointed with the engines non-responsiveness to quick throttle input. And that’s compared to FA20DIT and especially G16, which is also D4S and heavily turbocharged. This FA24 actually complains about it. It doesn’t sound like that’s something a tune can solve?

it s not actual knock and yes it s normal whel idle rpm are kept so low like on stock tune and some oft tunes

every other tune raise idle at least to 750
a tune will mostly solve it

If you hammer something hard enough,
it'll sound like it got hammered?

Has anyone here found a fix for this issue of the clank during throttle blip? It's super annoying and happens during rev matching also.

Clearly audible at 2, 8, 14 and 24 seconds.
Not the pump noise that starts at 22 seconds.

I have a 2022 BRZ 6MT w 17K miles, I've also noticed this happening in the last 3K. If I'm in neutral coasting, say to go over a speed bump then I stab the accel pedal to rev match I've heard what sounds like a single engine knock - and when it happens I always try coasting and trying to get it to happan again and I can't. It seems intermittent, very frustrating. I'm getting towards the end of regular warranty and also have a squeaky clutch pedal when releasing, ugh.

You have to let the revs fall all the way down to idle or when the revs are falling fast from say a rev match. You should be able to duplicate it at a standstill and not moving.

It doesn't do it every time, but it's fairly easy to replicate. Interesting how if the revs are above the ~600rpm resting idle it doesn't do it whatsoever. So if you just feather the throttle slightly and then stab it, it revs normally and sounds fine/healthy. It only hiccups/clunks/knocks or whatever when you "surprise" it with a throttle stab when it's at rest.

I checked the DI computer bolts and all three were snug. I'll have to do some datalogging with the OFT as well and see if this is a knock event. At least if it is we'll know if it's something gasoline/fueling related.
I've isolated the noise on my 2024 GR86 6spd to the AC compressor clutch disengaging and reengaging during the throttle blips. Can you confirm you have the same noise. I've gone to my dealer and they are ordering a new AC compressor under warranty. In the long run, I can see premature wear of the AC clutch due to this.

That does sound somewhat similar, but also slightly different. I assume this only happens with the AC is on/running?

I've confirmed that this happens with regardless if the AC is on or off.
