Either way, it won't be that much of a difference in power because of the Supra 2.0 being around 250hp. I am also happy that I purchased my 2020 tS as well. |

If true, that would be a nice incremental bump. Kind of seems like a low bump in hp for a decent bump in displacement. Should give modders and tuners a lot to work with.

If any of the latest clickbait rumours are true then calling the car a "Second Generation" at all is a total misnomer. Some changes to the bumpers and a slightly bumped up engine is NOT a new generation. Not even a major facelift really.

Im betting that this is like a C5 to C6 Corvette transition. Improved engine, chassis, new styling but still a lot of the same foundation underneath. |

Yeah, “Second Generation” is a pretty strong, but it’s more than any tweaks we’ve seen along the models so far since the beginning. This looks to be like the 350Z to 370Z.

It is not realistic to expect a complete overhaul every 4, 5 or even 6 years no, but this car is now pushing it's 10th year since final development. Remember that there were 2012s (built in 2011) released in much of the rest of the world. That is a long, long time to have only a couple of mild refreshes and nothing really "new" to offer the public. The "press" and internet "enthusiasts" will crucify them if this is all they are offering. Not to mention the one and only, single, solitary, unique, rare press release from Toyota back last October where they said they had just reached agreement with Subaru on a "next generation" 86! It is literally the only official news or information we have received.

"next generation" does not mean completely re-engineered car from the ground up. Plenty of cars, especially sports cars, sit on the same fundamental platform across multiple "generations". 911 and Corvette being two examples. |

Semantics. Even in your own examples there are "generations" that are all new platforms compared to the previous.

Never said it dd but there is a mile of difference between a car on the same platform and and one on the exact same one with some bumper changes and a slightly bigger engine. The very concept of a next generation is that there is enough difference to define it from the previous one. Changing tail lights and interior trim (if you believe the bullshit renders at all) is not enough of an alteration on the original to cal it a next gen. It would just be a moderate facelift of the current. This is not a car with a big enough following to get away with minor changes every generation so comparing it to Corvettes is not apples to apples. There are many of us that love it as it is but if they stick to that then they will not attract many new buyers and the market just will not support it.
