I was 2 when I asked to play. Started soon as we found a teacher willing to take me on. I don't remember practicing then, but by the time I was doing more in the summer, I was pretty good.
I had some ear bending when I first started playing French horn though. And we won't talk about when I tried teaching myself bass guitar briefly - I'd have got there if I didn't go off to art school.

Trying to reply to cjd's post re/ practicing violin and Humfrz "Oh, your poor neighbors!" post, but the multiquote isn't working for me right now..
In any case, Humfrz... nah... the neighbors of the kid who DIDN'T practice daily are the ones that truly suffered when that kid dragged the instrument out of the case once a week. If cjd spent the summer practicing, he/she probably sounded pretty good! As a life-long professional violinist and teacher... kudos, cjd. Violin's a bear to learn and play well ... it ain't for the faint of heart physically, either. In the hands of a master, one of the most beautiful sounds in the world. AND... @Tcoat .. nerd?!? Someone who prefers making good music on a difficult instrument and advanced mathematical intellectual stimulae to video games? Aren't you an engineer!?!? I can't stand video games, either.. and our pop culture reveres them so much that I even bought my wife an Xbox One for Christmas this year to find out what we're missing. I still don't get them! Guess I'm just not one who enjoys sitting down. I know.. it's all in fun. Guess I'll carry my Nerd Card proudly and keep the club Tshirt clean and ready to wear at all times!

I go in the Lotus board for the first time in weeks and search "headliner" for any information that might help with my repair, and this is what I get.

Ok..that's the strangest story ever...you start out with the most difficult string instrument (and arguably the most difficult to learn of all instruments), then move to the most difficult brass instrument....then you're defeated by the ELECTRIC BASS? Dude....?!?! Being a functional bass player is so easy that I got PAID the first time I played bass. Now, Victor Wooten, Jaco, etc...that's a whole different ball o' skill...but anyone with an ounce of musical training..and you sure have pounds more than that... and about twenty minutes could play in most garage bands. If you dig it, stay with it!

Weekend was all bout working on the basement. I was suppose to go to my friend's bday party, but I was so exhausted, I didn't go.
Good news was ripping out the fake wood wallsheet was a lot easier and sheetrock behind it didn't have any mold or anything. Bad news was it sheetrock behind wasn't mud or taped plus few area was missing sheetrock, so I gotta install that. I'll be ripping more this weekend. |
