I received the replacement plastic sun visor mounts from Craftcloud but I ran into a problem. I removed the sun visor to feed the wire through the hole of the new plastic mount. The wire is for the illumination but the connector is too big and won't fit through the hole. So I need to depin the wires from the connector and run the wires through, then repin them.

But even with a jeweler's flathead I can't seem to get the tiny plastic clip that holds these wires into the connector.
Any ideas aside from forking over $100 to Subaru? I've already come this far :\

Here's the connector that's too big to feed through the hole:

Here's a shot of what I'm trying to depin:

@JimR how did you get these wires depinned?

I just wrapped mine with dental floss and moulded sugru around the floss. Still holding after 2 years.

It looks tight but what about just cutting the two wires and using a solder iron to reconnect them and then some liquid electrical tape to protect.

I’m just going to buy a new sun visor. It’s an easy solution using the 3D printed part for people without illuminated mirrors. I tried stripping the wire but my hands are too big to work with such small wires.

I should’ve just used epoxy on the cheap broken plastic similar to what @aceangel did.

I bought a new illuminated sun visor from subarupartsdeal.com for $70. It’s arrived and installed.

The 3D printed part definitely fits perfectly, so it’s a good idea for anyone without an illuminated sun visor. The electrical connector gets in the way for people w/ illuminated visors. If it breaks again I’ll just use epoxy or something similar.

Well, I just joined the club. 2013, 75k miles, driver's side. Just reached up to flip the visor back up to fold up my windshield sunscreen and *snap*.

I glued it back together with cyanoacrylate along the broken edge, and then filled in the little pocket area behind it with JBWeld to try and reinforce it. We'll see how long it lasts. It didn't immediately rebreak, so that was a little encouraging...lol.

I'd have to pull it out. I wrapped the zip ties around the plastic part that fits into the roof of the car. I will get a picture if my description is unclear.
