Just now finding this thread.
I...er...am known to randomly build Gunpla from time to time, though it probably doesn't really "fit" for a forum dedicated to vehicles. Not quite into painting yet, though I've been known to panel line and topcoat my favorites. "Real Grades" are my favorites, and I have a few Masters (notably an MG RX-93-v2 Hi-Nu Gundam Ver.Ka, which was the mobile suit I based the current aesthetic of my 86 on) and some special one-off mech kits that I'm killing to paint, but I have to learn to airbrush properly first. Tips welcome, I'd assume that a lot of the same techniques that painters of automobiles can be used the same for robots. |

I would think all are welcome, since this is dedicated to plastic modeling. Technically though these are "vehicles" aren't they?

I am a big fan of the Bandai Star Wars line since their detail and engineering are exquisite so I have high hopes for their other kits. I would go for something like this (only with more "dirt")

I'd definitely recommend one of the newer High Grade kits to fiddle around with when you can find one! I moved into Real Grades kind of early, because I like fiddling with tiny mechanical details myself. Master Grade complexity (1/100) in a High Grade scale (1/144), lots of fun. |

Just finished an old school kit from the 80s that I picked up dirt cheap at a flea market. Most certainly not up to the fine details of modern kits but some extra clean up and tricks with paint and it came out pretty good. Only real bad parts are the cockpit and landing gear. The cockpit is pretty much hidden by the upper wing though. The landing gear is toy like and meant to be workable but since I wanted to see what I could do out of the box I left it alone.

Nice! I wonder which kit is it. I built this Tamiya 1/48 F-14 in the late 80's - I still have it.

Probably the Academy or Tamiya with a pile of aftermarket added to it. Those seats are not kit parts from anybody.
