Soundman, I presume "tires" is a euphemism for something else?

So roommate came down with something. He's got the chills, body aches, and lots of coughing. But he has no other tell-tale signs of Covid or Omicron Persei 8. My guess is it's a cold or possibly flu. He reports to sick-call Monday and will get tested at work. So far he's been sleeping all day in his room the last day and a half.

I... however, performed a very high-risk move New Years eve as well.... I went out to a few bars with coworkers and friends without a mask on and was most likely exposed to something. I'll report back in a few days if I begin to feel unwell.

Actually I'd be more suspicious of super high density factory farms as the original source for the virus.
In China there are pig farms stacked up to 20 stories high! And, without sounding like a tinfoil hat wearer, places in the world where there is industrial level pork production align almost perfectly with the most infections and fatalities, worldwide. You can take a template of a world map showing pork productions areas and overlay it with Covid infection almost perfectly. They were the source of at least one outbreak in recent times, swine flu.

The pig/pork production thing is 100% true.

Disregard the pork comment. But, there is no doubt factory farms provide the environment to breed new contagious disease. The animals are often immune compromised from stress. And they're squeezed together closest possible. Some Chinese producers crank out over 1 million pigs per year.

So we had 4 people now (possibly 5) test positive or have symptoms of COVID at work. So now we all have to stay and work from home all week. Ugh.
