Ugh, been trying to find an apartment for weeks. Since when did leasing agencies become so hard to deal with? I haven't had to rent in 12 or so years.

Could be both. We had someone here that we were trying to approve a promotion for when he got another job offer. We were able to use the job offer to accelerate that process significantly.

In that case, he still took the other job as it offered more growth potential, which really was the right call. Similarly, I don't know if it needs said or not, but be sure to weigh all options equally and do what is best for you, and not out of a sense of obligation to either employer.

Down in the Salem area.

On their own ads, off their own website, they don't give lease duration or unit number. But when you call to inquire about the unit they want to know the unit number and get a bit surly when you don't know it

They will also not budge off a 1 year lease, even when I offer to pay significantly more, and up front for 6 months

If it's a short term lease your looking for, I'd suggest you look into an "extended stay" type of motel or a "executive short term furnished" type of place.

When I moved out here (before my family) I rented a month to month "executive stay" type place. It came fully furnished (including kitchen ware).

That is not a bad option. There are a couple in my area. I could really move my time frame up and realistically only need about 4 months.

I think the closest one is a block away from the local gentleman's club
