What Was Your First Car?
With the surprising number of people that post the FRS/BRZ as their first car it got me thinking about my first!
Mine was a 10 year old '64 Impala SS convertible. Exactly the same as the one below but not that one as I would have to dig through boxes of these things called "printed pictures" to find the real thing. It was my pride and joy for several years but fell victim to some vandals (slashed top, seats, door panels, padded dash) and the good old 60s cars rust demons. What was the first car that you personally owned?

The first one that I actually owned myself was a 1994 Ford Contour.
It was the first model year in North America and honestly it was a pretty decent car. It's too bad Ford didn't just bring the Mondeo over as-is from Europe because some of the stuff they added didn't really make sense. |

This 1988 Mazda 323 that I got for $300 from my neighbor when I graduated high school. Leaked oil like a sieve, but I drove it anyway. Oil smoke poured from the engine bay due to oil on the manifold, and I had to put about two quarts of oil in it a week. But it got me to work realiably until I could afford to buy my second car later that year. First car I ever modded now that I think about it. Didn't come with a Tach from the factory so I installed one from autozone. That and a short shifter. |

1992 Galant VR-4. Bought it used in 2008 when I was in high school. Spent all of my money on it, barely drove it, sold it for a huge loss.

2004 Winning Blue RX-8.
This car injected the sports car addiction within me, especially after I used to drive 3 hours through tight and winding roads to see my fiance (now my wife). Because of how much I enjoyed and built a passion for driving it, I personally won't own anything other than a sports car for the rest of my life.

1964 Dodge Polara 2dr Hardtop with a "push button" automatic transmission.
Not this one (I don't think I even have a picture of it) but when waxed looked exactly like this except I had white walls on it (well it least it looked like this in my memory). Paid $300 for it in 1975 and sold it two years later for $450.

I had a 1990 civic. It had 240k on it when I sold it. Never have me any issues. I loved that car.
Sounds like a typical dsm experience. |

Excuse the silly photo, best $1k I've ever spent, 202k miles and hasn't skipped a beat despite me trying really hard to fuck up the timing chain replacement that in the end I realize was likely unnecessary.

The Polara was a great first car. You couldn't hurt it, and with the front/back bench seats you could easy get 6 to 8 friends in it plus another 2 or 3 in the trunk! Agh, the days before we "knew better"!
