Does Ottawa have meets in the summer still, or planning in 2020?
Not on the book of faces, so was wondering if they get posted on here?
Cheers

For sure!
There are one or two others not on the facial novel either
We’ll try to remember to double-post anything here too
I missed the Fall Cruise last year, but I hope to participate in more stuff this year too.
Welcome too 👍

Cheers
Ken

Mostly lurkers on this forum but for sure we’ll try to post more consistently.
The group has one or two big events each season. Also lots or impromptu meetups through the summer.
Welcome.

Thanks @OrangeGuitar, I've noticed the Canadian forums seem to be dead or dieing.

cruises

Funny thing. I have done solo cruises the last 4 weekends. I can confirm there is zero traffic out in the wild right now. Did the CP, Smith falls, Perth, Calabogie, Almonte run yesterday. Saw 2 cars between Perth and Calabogie on the 511. And saw another frs getting a ticket on my way into Carleton Place. Can't wait until this madness is over so we can get together. I am one of the guys Ken is talking about who is not on BookFace. and thanks for reaching out. Always nice to hear from new people. Stay safe all.

Just wanted to say a quick hello from a member who is a part-time resident of the 613, as I routinely (before COVID anyways) visit my cottage on Lake Clear up in Renfrew County.

So...hello!

Looks like I just got my next solo cruise destination. Some good news. The summer tires went on yesterday. Thanks Slick Auto

Nice! It's about an hour and 45 minutes from my cottage to Ottawa proper. Pretty nice cruise, depending which route you take of course.

Not sure what the roads are like between Ottawa and Lake Clear, as I come in to the lake from the West side, but surprisingly the route I take from Toronto is quite agreeable even with my slammed car. There's only one or two places where I scrape on the entire route, and not really any rough roads to deal with. Normally a slammed BRZ would not be the ideal cottage car, especially for a 4 hour drive, but I think she took me up there at least 10 times last year with the only issue being a tire separating on the way home the one time, but I'll blame that one on myself (camber wear and a bad alignment LOL).

Enjoy!

*waves* I'm another FraudBook-avoiding lurker.

Given the current situation, we may have to do a meet-up where we don't get out of our cars but just roll down the windows and yell at each other.

@Pbrown, no Supra in your garage?

Sadly no. Son has university for next 4 years. Is your C8 on order? Nice to hear from you BTW. Glad you are well.

Good to see you're still around too, not to mention healthy! Normally this would be the time of year when I come out of hibernation and start getting ready for the new autox season, but there's nothing normal about these days.

Fortunately, neither of the cats have expressed much interest in attending university so I've got a bit more financial flexibility regarding automotive toys.
  • Last June put down a deposit on a C8 before the car was even officially revealed.
  • Last Sept the UAW went on strike and delayed start of production by about 1-1/2 months.
  • Feb 27th my C8 was built and held with all early cars for an extended quality control period (normal for a new model).
  • Mar 16th delivered to the Toledo Ohio rail yard to start it's journey home.
....and that's it. As far as anyone can tell, it's still sitting in Toledo. Hopefully some time GM and CN can get their act together and figure out how to actually deliver the car.

Could be worse -- I heard of one fellow in the States who died of Covid-19 while waiting for his C8 to be delivered. His widow had to call the dealer to cancel the order. Makes my problems seem insignificant.

Hmmm, don't want to end this post on such a gloomy note so let me add that all are healthy here, and the C6 still provides grins when exercising it on our sunny spring days.

Cheers!
