How to wire Winjet DRLs to always on?
I have experience with electrical parts and can solder decently well and was wondering if someone can explain how to wire the DRLs to always on. Is it just pulling the red power wire from the LED strip and attaching it to a power source? I believe someone wired it to the fuse box with an add-a-circuit.
Any DIYs are very welcome =) thanks.

Have you looked in the DIY section? There are write ups for multiple lights and how to do this.

I've seen the one for the BRZ boomerangs but not sure it applies to the winjets.

Since it doesn't look like there's any discussion I am gonna throw out my hypothesis on how to do this. Electrical experts please chime in if I'm going to blow my car.
Trevorovert has a decent guide here (http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63266) but it's hard to tell from the picture what's happening. Does anyone know how much voltage it takes for the DRLs to turn on; will plugging it into a high voltage fuse slot cause problems? Also if you wire it this way would it be a problem since the DRLs would technically be getting power from it's original power source as well as the add-a-circuit going to the fuse box. I am thinking I can hookup the DRLs with a relay so that power goes one way, with the trigger being the low beam wire getting voltage (turning on low beams). I am pasting the relay diagram here. Not sure if a relay is needed at all though lol..

I'll try it out this weekend and write up a DIY if it works. Worst case I blow a fuse.

On that note (sorry to piggy back on your thread!), I've been considering the Winjets for a while despite their quality control issues. However, I'm not a fan of having DRLs on all the time. I'd prefer them to only turn on when low beams are on. Would this be mod + techstream solution? @fteightysix |

I got the DRL mod linked above from fteightysix. Worth it for me, I didn't want to deal with finding the right components for making this work, and I think the quality components to make it work would've been close to the same price.
If you want to do it yourself because of the price, just disconnect the high beam cable (I believe it's brown? I didn't do it but know someone who did) and switch the high beams on while driving. You won't have high beam functionality but you'll have your DRLs on all the time. |

I was looking for a DIY that doesn't require a 50 dollar harness. Either way I figured it out:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71480 Since I have a solder kit and wires, the cost was essentially 5 dollars for the add-a-circuit.

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71480 The 50 dollar harness would be better solution but for me it was just too expensive for wires and adapters.
