had to check your location on that one... my neighbors have a 40-yard dumpster in their driveway doing the same thing! they say they've been piling things into it for the last 25 years since they moved in...

but i can't complain, they're currently top donors to my scrap pile/pizza money.

Woke up without a hangover for the first Sunday in a long time, paid rent, had coffee and a cigarette, did some push-ups and sit-ups, meditated, ate a banana, took a shower, read a few pages of a book, more coffee and cigarettes.

The rest of the day will be about homework and cleaning. And tonight I'm going to meet up with a girl I've had a crush on for a while and recently reconnected with (I don't think I'm ready to ask her out, though).

Fixed the dryer. After 15 years, the heating element had enough. New OEM heater and good to go.

If I weren't trying to do anything other than buy a couple years, I'd be taking a sledge hammer to our shower. I HATE trying to repair grout. Though I picked a solution I thought might be easier, and was probably not in the end... hopefully it at least helps keep the water flowing where it is intended to go and I have the time to find a good tile guy who actually does showers right.
Going to have to go another week showering in the guest bath. At least I have that option.

My main sewer line clogged in the morning so I went to Harbor Freight and bought their $400 50ft rooter after work (it barely fit in the 86 through the passenger door). Rooted my own main sewer line of roots this evening and paid off the rooter in one shot. No more yearly clogs and rip-off-rooters at $300-400 a pop for 20 minutes of work. I do everything myself and usually am not so stoked as I am now but definitely kicking myself a bit for not thinking about the do it myself option sooner.

Man, I mowed my neglected lawn for the first time since July. Pretty proud of my landscaping and position in the neighborhood as the dude with the nice lawn.

Thankfully my house shades the afternoon sun. Also, yes everyone else has a brown front yard.

not my house, but my brothers house was the project of the day today.

got 11 light fixtures for free from a supply house (benefits of chatting up the sales people)-- non-matching light output from a much larger order, mfg's official orders were to 'dispose of them'. so they were disposed right into the back of my truck...

the plan was to re-do all the pull chain lights in his basement with these lights on a real switch. my dad agreed to help, we planned for about a half day of work.

turned out to be nearly a full day, and still need to do a little more some later time...

i also learned that a 5 year old that can follow directions, can help pull wire better than some of my apprentices.

Will also learn and remember much better! Awesome to have the little helpers. Not all the work is complex or dangerous - knowing what to do when and where? that's where you earn your $.

My first chore ever was making sure all the wall-plate covers were on securely. I might have been as old as 2? not sure. I once proudly attempted to help the church custodian (well, it was my job! and I saw him having to do the work at the church...) by stating "I'm really good at screwing..."

Not my place, duplex my buddy is selling.

Replaced vapor barrier under house.
Replaced exterior plugs with GFCI receptacles.
Strap down water heaters.
Replace fan in laundry room and add separate switch for fan.

My knees and elbows are so sore today.
