Sign up for their mailing list, they're supposed to release the kit within the next couple weeks and will notify list members.

I was told back in May there would be a preorder list in June for a July release. When that didn’t happen, I asked on my wife’s IG if the release slated for the end of August was for buying or for getting on a preorder list. No response. I wouldn’t hold your breath on the kits being available soon. My wife said one guy commented that he bought a kit three months prior and still was waiting on shipping, which he deleted or they deleted. Little fishy.

Yes, I have one in my possesion, but waiting on the Kpower kit to confirm it will fit with their oil pan (85% sure it will).

But here you go: https://www.tts-performance.co.uk/si...type-r-diy-kit

At the moment, our car runs a stock K24A2 engine, outputting a healthy 230whp and 190wtq thanks to our intake, header, exhaust, and tune.
Not bad!

What's more economical for an "improved car?" The NA specs are enough to keep me with a stock K24 since it's similar to my FA20 + Edelbrock...

Is this more reliable than a staged FA20 short block? K24s are pennies compared to a FA20.

Most people will just buy a GR86 than do this swap, but for those wanting NA power on the first gen, they will probably appreciate the weight savings and power potential of this swap. FI will be cheaper at the basic level. Power potential and reliability of FI on the FA20 platform versus the K24 or maybe track reliability will probably lead people to do this swap. If anyone has a bare chassis in need of an engine then this would be a good swap.

Stock, the K24 will do 450whp compared to the FA20's 350whp, but it has more displacement. The FA24 might do 450whp, but I doubt it will be as reliable in all applications unless they fix some stuff. The K24 is easier to build and service and configure. The K24 will be cheaper to replace and cheaper to build, and it will have more aftermarket support.

Swaps are expensive though, so there is little way around that. This only becomes economical at the extremes, and it isn't for most people. It will depreciate the car more in almost all cases, and it will make the car illegal in many states.

This is great, thank you. I have some thinking to do...ideally, I would like to swap an FA24, but who knows how that will work. Maybe people will sell adapter kits in the next couple years. It will be interesting to see what all the garage engineers coming up with.

On another note, I emailed Kpower about the hydraulic release bearing they mentioned in emails and showed, but didn't include in the blog. I sold my fork and pivot based on those things, but it seems like those items can be reused with their adapter design. Regardless, I wanted the hydraulic setup because my snout was replaced once already and is already worn, and the upgraded (white dot, MY17+) TOB was already jacked.

Their header and midpipe might align with the frontpipe or with the catback. Looking for clarification. They have two o2 sensor locations, but they only mention one Bosch Wideband sensor, so looking for clarification.

I like the use of everything else like the mounts and things, but I need to do a custom order because I have a lot of stuff.

I think I will be utilizing the steel flywheel and not the aluminum flywheel for better street-ability. I have a turbo, so I don't need to rev fast.

Hopefully shipping doesn't take forever.

I take it as the midpipe = over pipe so it will hookup with a front pipe.

They also said the hydro TB would come later.

The original pics and email correspondence said the frontpipe would be replaced as one whole unit. I think they took my advice and others advice to leave the stock front pipe for emission reasons.

I looked again, and I guess it does say the hydraulic TOB will come down the road with the stronger transmission option, but I don't know if that TOB is for the new transmission or for both. Kind of lame to have to wait for it or have to buy back new what I sold used based on their comments.

Have you seen any pics of the intake piping with the bumper off? Curious where the filter lands.

No I haven't. Judging from the pics, I'm assuming it is positioned where the snorkel is on the backside of the OEM intake box, basically in the bumper.

I won't be using that intake.

PRICES UP!

$10k for the complete swap…$10.5k if you want AC and heat…personally, I will be sticking to the plan of a stage 2 FA20 short block.
