I had never even heard of them until I saw a Lava FRS parked down the street from my parents house and was very intrigued. I was in the second year of my associates degree in 2013 at the time and completely broke... so after spending a couple of weeks ogling photos online and building configurations I had to put it out of my mind as unattainable for the time being.
Fast forward to 2017, I had a good job and had purchased a home a couple of years earlier. Careful spending and lots of saving meant I had a good amount saved up for a down payment on a new car. Decided to attend an auto show with my dad in March to sit in one for the first time and see if I actually fit (6'-4") and prepare myself to be disappointed if I didn't. I sat in an mx-5 first which was almost comically too small... then a 370z and balked at the price tag... then a camaro and felt it was super bland and too generic looking for me. Finally sat in a BRZ and fit like a glove and knew I had to have one. Test drove a red 2017 a week later, then drove my DGM 2017 off the lot a week after that with 8km on it. 72k kms later I still look back at it every time when I walk away... wash and detail it every 1-2 weeks to keep it looking fresh and love every minute of driving it. |

I picked up a new to me 2015 two days ago and fell in love with it the night I got it. This car is everything I expected and I know people complain about the power, but I love it. It turns in so well even with the squishy Michelins it came with and I love that I can lay into the throttle around corners without too much drama (I'm a firm believer in the fact that it's way more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow).

The moment I officially fell in love with my BRZ was my first time doing donuts at a local meet. While I have only owned the car since April 2020, It took me roughly 2 months to gain the confidence and courage to learn and be able to use the RWD to its full fun potential. While my group stayed back hyping me up I took my friend with me and we did a full send. My first and definitely not my last (for now it is due to personal reasons lol). After doing a couple rounds of donuts I realized I bought the perfect car for my interest. From then on I’ve been doing donuts at my local meets while destroying my rear tires (S/O to one of my boys who works at Subaru and hooks it up with tires). Now within my group I’m considered the DK as I’m going to learn how to drift as well. Sadly I can’t add the video edit I made of that night here is a snippet of me mid-donut Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Some people call that a picture.
Others will call it evidence at the trial.

I'm not saying none of us hoon, I'm just saying the less evidence, the better.

After my first track day I fell in love with it. Before that I was disappointed because of how slow it is, but on the track it really shines. |

Is it really THAT slow though? I'm coming from a cammed LS2 with 450whp and I find that the car is fast enough. Maybe it's the manual transmission placebo effect. Sure it's not a drag or highway king, but it's pretty quick for what it is. Maybe I'm getting old too.

It's not much faster than my Mazda 3 hatchback, so in a straight line I wasnt impressed. But on the track I can do cornering at higher speeds than most cars which is a great feeling. |

The first time I washed the car maybe a week after purchase. Black is a bitch to keep clean but when it is.... its like a mirror. 6 (soon to be 7) winters later and I still look back at her as I walk away. Every time. She has some scratches and a few small dings but she's still beautiful. Recall was done with zero issues. Runs like a champ and has never let me down. Paid off so I'll never sell. I actually want another one lol
