Red carpet interior

I remember in the early days when the GR86 first showed up that the interior had red carpet.

Was this just a prototype or will this eventually end up in production?

You can see a lot of GR86 on YouTube with a red carpet but as mentioned only in Japan.I don't think there are a lot of companies outside Japan that had a red carpet as an option from the factory ,i can only remember Honda.

Depends how far back you want to go.

My very first (legal) car had red carpets!

There's a version of the Volvo XC-40 with red/orange carpet. Porsche offers a red interior in the new Cayman (and probably other models). The Volvo may go for less than $60K, the Porsche certainly won't.

My second car was a 1973 Chevy Vega with the ZM5 (1 Millionth Vega) option. I bought it brand new late in 1973 just before the '74 models were released. It had orange carpets that matched the exterior body colour.

How long did it stay looking orange?

'First (legal) car', can't just make such a statement without further elaboration.. spill the beans, what was your first "illegal" car?

The first car I drove on the streets where:
A) I had a drivers license.
B) The plates on the car were actually for that car.
C) There was insurance on it.

I had 2 or 3 cars that a drove on a regular basis before those criteria were met. It was a different era.

It might be faster to just list the parts of the car that were NOT red!
