Just driving a MT is not even close to being a "purist".

He must drive @humfrz first car

As already said a gazillion times, it isn't about lap times it's about fun factor which Randy also explains in the video. The AT beat the MT by .3 on a 1:40 track. That isn't really worth giving up serius fun factor but it's all personal preference.

Plus, I’ve had many manual transmissions in other cars, so it’s simply not that important to me anymore. I use the paddles all the time to down shifts, then I really like how’s it goes back to Drive on its own. When I’m on a twisty mountain road, I use sport mode and paddles...best of both worlds!
If you enjoy manual, good for you. Glad we still have this option, not available any more with many manufacturers. But I don’t believe you will find a MT anymore in Formula One racing and even many drifting cars are running AT’s. I also have to say that this AT is completely different as other AT’s I’ve driven. Feels like a dual clutch automatic, but much better.
Ah yes...let me take another sip of my coffee while I drive around!

If you visit the state of Washington, don't be having anything in your right hand while driving, except a shift lever or a piece of steering wheel - or you'll get a ticket -

Is that why you went all the way to Seattle to buy the Lotus?

You know what I mean,

I mean if they offered the RC trim in the US, I'd probably go for that; since it's the "closest" to what you described, haha

In my mind/perspective, MT is for the purist. Of course, other people might think different and have a different definition of purists.

Others might even take it to the extreme like what you just described for a "purist MT" car

Others might think automatic is for purist, I won't argue, I'll respect that of course.

The words "Purist" and "enthusiast" don't seem to fit. Traditional/Traditionalist is a better word choice IMHO and that doesn't sound near as "elitist" But, I think these words are chosen to feel superior in some cases.

I'm definitely not saying that is the case here. I'm just making an observation. Then again, you read this in just about every car publication out there...

I drive an AT FR-S that doesn't make me any less of an "enthusiast" and certainly not less "pure"
