Hmmmm, has Perrin ever provided an official response? I'm currently looking at motor mount options...

I think their official response was if you are going to use them in FI applications without heat shielding of some sort you are taking your chances.

I just installed the STi mounts in place of the Cusco ones. They do have shielding on one side of the mount, so it may not be an issue with those. The construction of the Cusco mounts doesn't really leave the urethane/rubber part of the mount exposed to much heat. They add a ton of NVH to the car though.

Wow that is bad! I'd really suggest installing some heat shielding and/ or wrap, and of course figuring out the leaking. With any turbo kit install, it is required to install shields on the header or to wrap them to keep the heat out. Sending PM.

Like my friend @King Tut one day said, don't let this get on the way of a good story. (hint: sarcasm)

In any case, I'm pretty sure the Perrin mounts weren't designed for FI originally as I believe these came out of production before most turbo kits were developed.

It's not a bad part, but you northern parts shops need to consider 100+ ambient temps everyday driving, even if his car wasn't turbo'd these would have melted with aftermarket headers.

And FWIW, the stock mounts would have held the heat because they're made of materials with higher heat tolerances than a urethane filled and exposed mount. (weaker albeit, but *could* withstand the heat)
Meh, grew up in South Florida and now live in St. Louis, MO. Florida is not as hot as Missouri at all but it is much more humid. Florida is typicall high 80s and into mid 90s for some time. land locked regions will be up to 105F in the midwest for sometimes close to a month of summer. Sure there are really hot days here and there in FL but on the whole the temperatures are just not as high. Also think of guys in Arizona and other arid regions with temperatures around 110-115.

I bet he didn't use the right gaskets. It is ALWAYS the gaskets, and never the manifold.

Do the AVO manifolds have a high tendency to leak? Are the mounting surfaces not true?

Not sure if SRS. In my research there are more members with AVO kits that have had leaks than have not had leaks.

Definitely serious. I have not kept up with the AVO kit since early last year. I was considering it at some point while trying to make an FI decision. It is unfortunate that the vendor shortcomings are so varied and widespread across the board. Maybe there is some wisdom to having things custom fabbed locally (easier to hold someone responsible when things go sideways).
