Alternatively, you can find authorized dealers/installers such as @CounterSpace Garage to do the installation for you as well.
i myself am an ASE certified technician.. If I install this kit at home myself will that mean I'd have the warranty? I currently hold 5 ASE certs

You'd need the installation documented in the form of invoices, AFAIK.

He should charge himself the cost of the kit to install it. That way it's like he's paying for it with his labor :p

The installation of the Edelbrock E-Force Supercharger System must be conducted by:
  • a certified new car dealership
  • a certified Edelbrock E-Force supercharger installer
  • or by an automotive service technician certified by the Institute for Automotive ServiceExcellence (ASE) at an automotive repair facility with a valid business license.

Give me a break! If he is a licensed ASE mechanic, as he stated, what difference does it make if he is operating within a licensed business? Gotta love big ole American company CYA. This makes the Edelbrock kit much less of a value to the DIY car owner.

I wonder how Vic would feel knowing that his company is turning from its garage hot rodding roots. I was a 17years old installing a victor junior intake manifold one summer on an old Chevelle I had, I called Edelbrock for some advice on a vacuum line problem I was having. I talked to the man Vic Jr. himself. Pretty cool, I'll never forget that- giving advice and talking to a 17 yo kid. This is indeed a different feel from the experience I had back then. No warranty if you don't spend an additional $500+ on install stinks! (Flame suit on)

Well, it'll take a while (a long while) before the wife will let me drop this kind of money on something. So I can wait.

Calm down man. No other kits' warranty comes even close.

The guy could still do it at work

@Edelbrock LLC can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is for their limited power train warranty. The SC will still come with the standard 3 yr warranty on parts defects even if you install it yourself. Granted that the power train warranty is for 36k mi from 0/3 yrs from new, but I don't think you'll find any other FI manufacturer who will give you the same.

I don't think its out of line for Edelbrock to expect some amount of accountability, expecting that the work be done by a professional and at a place of business.

Please. You're damned right they have to CYA - just think about all those hacks out there doing botched installations and trying to collect on their warranty after something breaks. Kudos to Edelbrock for providing a warranty under *any* circumstance - it's unheard of when it comes to an aftermarket FI product. Just shows how they plan to stand behind their product.

That's correct BigFatFlip, Edelbrock warrants each new supercharger kit to be free from defects in both workmanship and material for a period of three (3) years from the date of purchase, provided that the product is properly installed and subjected to normal use and service.

The installation requirements are for the Powertrain Warranty.

Even with the flame suit, it is burning! Ok, great warranty. I get it. Still...
