The Twin sits above the baby hatches such as the Fiesta ST\Renault Clio but below the Focus RS. It retails circa £24k - £27k similar to the VW Golf. The RF is between £22k - £27k.

Great read. I had seriously considered trading in the FR-S for the RF couple months back. To get some feel for the cabin, I went to the autoshow and sat in the car, and I immediately noticed the difference in seating position which killed it for me. I felt like I was sitting way too high up not only because my head was pretty much touching the roof, but also I just felt like I was sitting so high up in the cabin it felt like a civic/corolla/elantra/etc. I did feel that it was much more luxurious than the twins but thats not why I drive this car so...

Right you are I have the same opinion. I had an MX5 for 2 years and from a drivers car perspective the 86 is far superior. That low CG and driving position coupled with the lack of body roll is just so much better IMO especially when you change to better tires. I never connected with the Miata. I've had 911's my whole life and the Miata just felt too soft.

UK Subaru is only bringing in 1 BRZ for every 9 86's, so they're over 5k total or 1k per year, which given that they have less than 1/4 of the population as the US isn't so terrible.

To put it in perspective, the number of 86s will surpass S2000s on UK roads within the next few months, comparing 5 years of production to 10.

Yes Toyota/Subaru have an agreement however only circa 550 BRZs have actually been registered since 2012, BRZs not selling..

Dude, that's according to plan, the UK is a small country and Subaru doesn't sell that many cars there to begin with.

According to this article Subaru sells ~3k cars per month in all of Europe, they sold less than 1k Impreza's last year for the entire continent.

http://carsalesbase.com/european-car-sales-data/subaru/

Subaru sold 33k WRX/STI last year in the US alone.
http://www.goodcarbadcar.net/2014/05...s-usa.html?m=1

The BRZ is not underperforming any worse than the rest of Subarus lineup in Europe.

Isn't the BRZ only offered as base spec in the UK? Kind of like the FRS in the States?

We did have 2 specs 'SE' and 'SE Lux'. The Lux version with heated seats, leather etc and now they only have the SE Lux and Toyota is running with 2 models a base and a Pro.

May edition of Car (issue 658) has a review of a RF vs GT86 vs BMW 220i M Sport. Not read it yet but had a sneak look at the sum up... SPOILER ALERT: GT86 wins!!! Hooray for the little Twin!!

Interesting. I've driven the ND and thought it was amazing. Granted, it had coilovers and upgraded wheels/tires on it, but it was a blast to drive. Engine was smooth, shifter was fantastic, pedal position was great etc.

I do wish the wheel telescoped though to get a 100% perfect driving position, but otherwise, I thought it was great. Stock vs stock, I prefer the ND over the 86/BRZ, honestly.

I don't doubt that the ND is an amazing car to drive and blast in the twisties. I've heard nothing but great things about it from owners and reviews. Personally I felt the adjustment for perfect seating position is very lacking in the ND. I understand their reasoning for integrating heigh adjustment into seat distance adjuster as well as lack of telescoping steering column but that made me either sit too high when i was close enough to the pedals and too close to the wheel, or too far from pedal when low enough for me to fit and just perfect for the steering wheel. Something always seemed off and my personal preference placed great importance on seating position/adjustability. If ND had better adjustability for seating position, I would've probably switched over long time ago to be honest.
