Then again, I don't know if making 7.5K-ish cars a year counts as rare.
The rarity will come after half of them are wrapped around trees and/or modded to the point of unrecognition, heh

Well it will always have a "higher" resale because it's got a higher trim level, more options, it isn't really an apples to apples comparison.

Edit: just realized, maybe it'll depreciate a bit slower? I still don't think so though since depreciation is determined by issues/cost of repairs (would be the same) and desirability which should be basically the same.

I think the BRZ will always have higher resale value yes, but the difference will diminish over time.

Say the BRZ is 3k more now, used in a year or two maybe they're 2k more, maybe in 5 years its closer to a 1k difference, etc

I saw that Subaru had the highest selling month in their history last month. Great news there!

Is it really that much? I paid in the mid $25k range and I seem to see people only paying about $1k less for a FR-S.

Desirability will be higher with the BRZ just for the simple fact that there are less of them out there. Many people like to have rare cars and even though it isn't super rare, there are a lot less BRZ's out there than there are FR-S's. FR-S's are already selling for 21-22k with low miles so I'm not sure how well they will hold up. Unfortunately for us, the more people that sell them this cheap will make it harder to get more for ours when the time comes. Only time will tell how they will hold up! I still don't want to sell mine yet (which is an odd feeling) myself so I guess I don't need to worry about it for a while.

You didn't get a limited, did you... THAT'S the main price different, and the biggest reason to get a BRZ over an FRS.

The FR-S does have one strong point, the scion pure price. Dealers can't lower the price for buyers where the BRZ has haggle room. This allows the scion models to hold high resale values down the road.

While I understand what you're saying, I disagree.

I can't see a scenario where that would have an affect on resale. It will be the value the FRS has against all the models, and since it's the lowest initial price, along with the scion perception of a 'cheaper car' it will also command less, period.

I don't see that as a strong point at all.

Idk about that, numbers have proven this fact. I'm pretty sure it's taken into account with use from places like KBB. I almost made money when I traded in my tC.

Right, in 8-10 years, every high school in the country is going to have an FR-S or BRZ in it. I mean, right now my local High School has a couple RX-8's and a few fairly nice BMWs. The FR-S is going to have a huge market once the resell drops to the 'High Schooler' price point. And why would a high schooler NOT want an FR-S? Economical, small, RWD, and easy to work on? Yeah, the market for this car is only going to get bigger the older they get.

It's why I've decided to buy one and never sell the sucker. It's going to be worth more to me than anyone I could sell it to.... providing I don't wrap it around a tree.

Frs is going to be DSM and Civic level really soon. Soon I am sure that I will see each of them revving at the stop light with a fart can for muffler.

No offense, but the crowd from Civic SI is not a reputable one, and normally they are cocky, then turn around to be a sore loser. I hope this platform isn't going down that road.

But I am afraid that it is.....already there is a guy with a spoiler put backward....

I have to disagree. For me the big reason to get the BRZ is the HID's and Nav. You pay $1k and get features that normally cost an additional $2500. Plus the interior materials look way better, but that's an opinion and others may not agree. It seems to make all the sense in the world to me unless you plan on stripping the car or can't find a BRZ(which has been a problem unfortunately).

I will say the FR-S bumper has grown on me, but I still do prefer the BRZ styling. I worry how the FR-S will hold up in years to come. (Think riced out honda's with bumpers hanging off).
