Folks, let's not forget the same factory makes GR86s and UK had their GR86 order book open up on Tuesday at 10 am and the full allocation for the year (Rumoured 400 cars) sold out in an hour and a half. Our deliveries are promised in Aug Sep , so clearly the current focus is GR86 for EU and UK. No idea of the Australia , Newzeland launches either. I will hedge a bet and say about Sept time is when they should make the next batch of 23 BRZs.

In the grand scheme of things $600 is right on a 2% inflationary factor if using $30K for the average price of the vehicle. In previous years 2% was exactly the figure we'd use for long range cost planning. In today's world it is probably not even close. Subaru's manufacturing costs are probably increasing way faster than 2%. We should be happy prices aren't going up more. |

Wow, hopefully yours comes sooner than July. I won't be surprised at all if mine gets pushed past Aug. Just glad that I don't have to endlessly search online daily for cars that end up being sold orders. Relieved to be in a queue with a VON.

Omg, I share the sentiment. Infuriating search all the time..Now I can sit and be semi relived. I want a VON, just going to have t wait. I hope it all finally works out. The last couples of years has sucked. Obviously.

I never understood the model year designation and actual manufacture date connection. My friends who bought domestic brands would talk about waiting until fall to get the next year's model as if it were a loaf of bread with a 'Best by date' so it would be worth more when it came time to trade in or sell it. When Subaru came out with the 2014 Forester which was a big change from the previous generation, they ended production of the 2013 model year very early to start production of the 2014. I saw the 2014 at a car show in January of 2013 and got ours in April of that year. It was at the same car show that I saw the BRZ. It was April of 2018 when I finally got around to buy a BRZ and I went to order a 2018 model, but the big push by the dealer to sell me the 2017 BRZ on the lot drove me to another dealer to get a 2017 BRZ in the color I wanted at a better price as well. My 2017 BRZ had a manufacture date of 10/2017 so it wasn't something that was laying around since the last quarter of 2016. An example of how haywire the model year and manufacture date goes nuts is my 2018 Winnebago Navion motor home was built in the first quarter of 2017 on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis built 09/2016. When I ordered the particular build, it got in too late for the 2017 model years, so I was told. That got me a small price increase on the base model, but all the extra features came at the original 2017 price. I also got most of the features found on the 2017, but discovered when the 2018 brochures finally came out, many of the options were discontinued. What year is it really? Well, it depends on what you want to do. For registration and insurance, it is a 2018. For warranty, it is time and mileage from the date of delivery. For the actual nuts and bolts servicing, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is a 2016, so I have to go to that parts catalog. For something that is third party such as the German made tankless hot water heater, I would have to refer to the model number and the date of manufacture in case there was a mid-year change. For something that was engineered and manufactured at the Winnebago factory, well good luck. Often it is a matter of going through parts catalogs and it is like going to the police station and looking at mug shots to find the right match.

I'm going today to order a Red Limited 6spd manual. Probably do the short throw shifter and some of the STi aero pieces, but haven't decided on that just yet.

Done and done. I decided to wait on the aero pieces as I can always buy those later and install myself.
'23 Red Limited, manual w/short shifter. They tried to add a $1k markup, I just flat said, "Nope, I'm not paying any mark up." (This is the first time I've ever even paid MSRP for a new car). He pulled the let me go ask my manager stuff. I just told him, "Tell him you have someone in the showroom ready to put down a deposit and place an order." He was back in about 90 seconds saying they waived it. According to them, expected delivery is August/September. But I think that's a bit optimistic. I wouldn't surprised if it's not here until November. Especially with Nissan just noting they pushed back the Z from Spring to Summer for deliveries. |

Hell yea red limited. I initially added the aero pieces too, but removed them from my order because they would have arrived 3 months after the car. After seeing the car’s shape in person for a while, I decided it didn’t need the sti aero. Glad I waited in hindsight. |
