Then would you still need to get a tune?
to tune with ecutek you need three things

Ecutek cable kit about 350
Ecutek ecu licience about 350
A tune either you make it or you buy one from ecutek 100-500 or so

I suspect the blutooth dongle will be able to flash tunes like the standard kit but not 100% it appears to have a micro usb adapter socket on back which i suspect will plug into usb port of computer for flashing. Then logging and other stud is done via either usb or blutooth link.

Flashing is coming soon. In fact the BRZ product isn't finished yet, I spoke with ECUtek earlier this week. I have suggested some ideas to them so should hopefully see those. Android app is expected start of 2017.

That doesn't make sense... ProECU cables are not application specific as far as I understand it, and there's no indication the Bluetooth modules are either. Unless the software just isn't complete.

I suspect @Kodename47 is talking about the software changes required in the ecu to allow the live interfacing via the blutooth app rarther than the pro ecu software

That's the only thing I can think of, though I'm not sure what would really need to be changed. Maybe something to support the higher polling rate.

Interesting! If this new product would directly compete with the OFT in terms of price and flexibility with tuning.

It doesn't seem any less than the current setup... Still need license and interface and tune, all of which are separate.

A new RaceROM patch is required for the neater features. Not sure whether you'll require the new patches for only the new features or to connect at all, but things are still being tested and ironed out. Here's some more info for you though:

We now have it all working and have designed some custom maps around the 5 available inputs which can be fed in to custom maps.
The custom inputs can be re named, we have the option to use them as a switch, slider, numeric or listbox. Min and Max values can be set as well as text displayed.
Map switching can also be named which is nice*

The above shows some examples of what can be done for customer usage. We can also configure for tuning and allow live inputs in to the ecu.
Data logging is one of our favourite things especially for the race car, we can start a log on the startline and record the whole lap or laps and only need to carry an iphone in the car.
Another plus is you can see if vvt is on and its so cool to switch maps from your phone and see the rev counter move to the appropriate map

Datalogs can also be emailed direct from the app and there's a section to find your nearest Ecutek tuner with their contact details.
It's early days yet and I know Ecutek have big plans for the future which is great for us all

Honestly I feel like US distributors mark up EcuTeK to pretty astronomic levels. A license tends to cost minimum $300 USD from a US tuner. If you buy from a UK tuner, it's around £150-160 GBP which translates to around $200 USD on the high end. You can't even argue that it has to go through customs (which is 2% on the high end anyway), because it's software. That's all retail pricing.

Visconti just ran a sale for $400 for hardware, license, and a tune. I realize there has to be some profit margin, but come on.

As for flexibility, EcuTeK is already more flexible than OFT. That's the difference between one guy and an entire R&D team.

I figured there would be a RaceROM update for this. Good info.

V9.1 Racerom patches have been released. Interesting to have a poke about. 5 custom inputs available from the app.

Anyone else have been playing around with the app and tried the data logging? Curious as to see if you are able to see Advance Multiplier and Custom Maps to read e85 content.

Right now it doesn't show as a selectable parameter when trying to select what to data log.

Have you got the EVi dongle? It shows up on the images that I posted up before and I don't see why you wouldn't be able to access them. However those parameters are pulled from RaceROM logging and not standard logging, hence my original question.

You will likely need the RR9.1 patches too, so older versions may not have full logging capability.

Yup, got the dongle. Tried the logging last night and it didn't show AM or any of the custom maps. I'm going to talk with the tuner to see
