Take the Sienna, chop it, lower it, and throw a bigger engine in it you've got a Supra Wagon.

Do people still seriously think the mk2 is happening? I don’t. I suspect Covid might kill the project, or at least, heavily delay it. The world is likely entering into a prolonged economic recession and affordable new sportscars are probably the least likely products to go ahead from conservative companies like Subaru and Toyota. Priority will go to the bread and butter mainstream models in the effort to remain profitable. I’ll be very happy to be proven wrong, but there it is.

Well, no one has ever accused me of being hip, but I concede your point.

The Volkswagen Golf Mk2? Already happened...

The Gen2 86? We'll have to wait and see...

I really thought they were referring to the 80s Supra and thought "is this bad grammar or am I missing something?"

The economy is gonna bounce back quicker and be extra strong. There wasn't anything wrong structurally with the economy before COVID, things should get back on track. Big hiccup ahead will be everyone shifting away there interactions with China.

Let's assume for argument's sake that nothing was wrong with our economy (lol) before COVID, But COVID broke the rickety scaffolding supporting the economy. Not Wall Street, the real economy. A 20-25% unemployment rate will take years to recover from. Most employers that reduced their workforce will find that they can operate fine without hiring all those positions back. This will take YEARS to bounce back from.

If my neighbors' boyfriend hadn't volunteered to teach me some things, car ownership would have been harder. I couldn't afford a mechanic, so if I couldn't fix it, I was hosed. He could rebulid a carb with his eyes shut, in 5 minutes...me, not so much.
The requirement for instruction is directly proportional to the complexity though.
There was a day when you could do a complete engine or even transmission rebuild using nothing but a single book. There was no need for detailed videos or hundreds of different sets of instructions.
The Haynes manuals cost about $8 or there were books available from the library.
That is if some jerk didn't check it out, not return it and then find it in his basement 45 years later.

We'll be under 10% unemployment again by the fall barring another huge uptick in cases.

Going outside of the total economy and focusing purely on automotive things look different. The industry was already starting to head into decline in 2019. The manufactures recognized this and were already making preparations. Then Covid came along and gave a knockout punch. There will be no quick recovery for automotive.

Pre Covid news. There is plenty more of the same.

Interesting that the timeline seems to be right on track...

New Sienna recently unveiled...expected by fall of 2020 still

And the new CUV was unveiled yesterday, also expected by fall of 2020

https://www.autonews.com/cars-concep...ossover-lineup

Hopefully the timeline continues to stay on track....

The timelines of the hybrids are still on track. Funny they are all that they revealed though isn't it.

Looks like they unveil about 2 season before release...by that I would've expected the new twin reveal in winter of 2020...before the outbreak....
