On a lark, I watched/listened to "The Last Waltz", the Martin Scorsese film about the last performance by The Band. The two principals of this group were Robbie Robertson (Canadian) and Levon Helm (a true son of Arkansas). This got me to thinkin'. The best collaborations are often between closely related, but not identical cultures, i.e., Canada and the U.S. These guys were magic together, better than either one of them would have been separately. Robbie brought a sort of worldly sophistication to the musical output, while Levon was as down-home Delta as they came. It was an amazing collaboration.

As it happens, I knew Levon Helm's first cousin, Troy Helm. The resemblance was scary! Arkansas grows musicians the way that Iowa grows corn.

Robbie is the guitarist, Levon is the drummer and singer.

With your luck you would show up and there would only be incubus.
And I don't mean the cool demon kind.
