FR-S Matt's Ultramarine FR-S Build

On November 29th, 2012, my addiction started. I took the chance, didn't even test drive this car. I just had that gut feeling that this is a car I would enjoy and love. Mind you, I'm 6'6" and about 204 lbs and I fit in this thing! I couldn't be happier with my purchase and the best part.... I finally got the color I've always wanted. Dark blue! It took about 2 weeks for me to get my car after putting in my $500 deposit (Yes, hate me, I got lucky). When the car arrived, it had 6 miles on the odometer, fresh from the port. Coming from a 2002 Camaro SS, this was a drastic change in the clutch and feel for me, but I absolutey love it!

First aftermarket part: Beatsonic Sharkfin Antenna. I was stupid and snipped the connector when looking at the instructions just assuming that's what I would have to do. I ended up cutting the wire, and redoing it myself and the signal seems even improved by doing that versus the one that came on there stock.

Also, the stock 3M tape wasn't very sticky. It was a little colder outside, but it didn't seem to stick hard. I redid it with some 3M automotive tape from Auto Zone and it is definitely stuck on there big time now. Water doesn't get underneath it. Overall, looks great!

So, for my intake I started with the aFe Takeda Oiled Intake. It wasn't bad, but it did take a little gas to get it going from an idle RPM. Sounded really mean. About a week later the Perrin Cold Air Intake was released and instantly had my attention. I sold my aFe Takeda and prompty purchased one from @FT-86 SpeedFactory at a great price around $370 for the inlet and the CAI. Taking off the bumper for the first time wasn't too bad. It did take me some time and those plastic clips you have to be careful with. I can remove the bumper in about 5 minutes now. This intake drives so nicely on stock. No bogging, sounds really mean at 4k RPM and higher, and best of all, it looks amazing! Being so hot here in Texas, I opted for this intake so the filter sits in the hood rather than the engine bay.

Next upgrade were my lights. I went with @KI_ZN6 HID_Powerhouse's Euroconcept HID Kit 6000k's with G's Superbright DRL's and Interor LED light with truck LED and license plate LED's along with Reverse Light LED's too. Probably the easiest upgrade to do, and the Euroconcept ballasts are very high quality and are very easy to 3M tape in the engine bay and hide. They're so tiny! Light output is amazing and adds that touch the car needed from the factory. Highly recommend. Customer service is top notch as Ken answered all of my questions!

Oh what a journey this one was. I read about Nameless all over the forums, had no idea who these guys were. I simply went off reviews about everyone raving about this axleback. So eventually, I made my decision off of several youtube videos and reviews to buy this one. Originally ordered from Titan Motorsports in February, I thought I was getting the 3" Offset Axleback from Nameless. Lo and behold, I ended up with a 2.5" one as Titan screwed up my order. It took around a month and a week to receive this, and Titan would not accept a return. This is why you use Paypal, friends. I filed a dispute and got a FULL refund for their screw up. This time, I ordered through @Jason@Nameless directly and boy am I ever happy. I waited another full month and a week AGAIN for this product because it is that good. The welds are gorgeous, and the axleback is a work of art. I absolutely love it. Anyone who doesn't wait for them to craft this doesn't know what amazing quality is. I can't wait to get the 3" downpipe and 3" midpipe to piece together everything. Made in the USA!

Rexpeed Carbon Fiber Dampers. The only dampers I've seen reasonably priced with actual carbon fiber! Love these things. This car was definitely missing them.

This was a fun one. I ended up taking off some of the skin on my left arm with a breaker bar removing the stock pulley bolt. Took a huge tug to loosen it. Once that came off, a very simple install. Carefully line up the pulley and read the instructions. You'll have problems if your pulley wobbles. Throttle response has increased and the pulley looks sweet with my intake too!

Once again, thanks to @FT-86 SpeedFactory for getting me these Enkei RPF1's 18X9.5 in SBC! I spend a lot of money with these guys for a reason. I got a chance to get these in SBC and I didn't pass it up. At $1500, they're pretty expensive, but once you personally pick one up, even with the tire on, then pick up the stock wheel, you will see why. These are crafted to perfection by Enkei. Hands down one of the best upgrades I've done along with Continental ExtremeContact DW's at 245/35/18. Summer tires year round here in Texas!

Note: This is on stock suspension for now. Clearance in the front is close to the spring, but is NOT rubbing.

Rexpeed Wide Blue Mirrors from @FT-86 SpeedFactory. These are a MUST! Blind spot is gone, looks outstanding paired with Ultramarine. Probably one of the most overlooked things that's extremely helpful on the road. They are on a crazy backorder now so I'm glad I hopped on and got them early!
