What is your dialect?
I was just looking over some maps of how people in the US say different words, and its fucking interesting as fuck! for example
I'm from the South, so I didn't know people called doing donuts "whipping shitties"? anyway here is a site with a bunch of maps with different words and sayings http://spark.rstudio.com/jkatz/SurveyMaps/ and here is a site you can go to take a survey of your dialect http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2...-quiz-map.html

Not surprised by these results; I live on the border on the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in Ontario and most of the red is either in that area or up near Ontario in general

I live in NY right next to NYC where I formerly lived. Map seems to be right on point.

Do you think there is a difference between dialect and accent? My map said deep south, because of the words I chose, but many people have told me I don't reallly have a southern accent.

My dialect is hellah west coast, but Louisville, Tallahassee, and Lexington are the darkest colors of red. Weird, and I'm an military brat growing up, so I guess it's just really broad. Mid - Latitude and southern dominated, very interesting.

After doing the survey again it looks like down to the amount of common answers to 'what do you call...' questions.

I was raised in and lived in Oklahoma until 23 years old. These results definitely make sense in my case. Pretty cool little survey.
