I had that revised adapter and it's carp. I won't mind spending few bucks to fix it.

Had mine installed with the latest/updated bracket, it started vibrating soon after. Then had it reinstalled with a new bracket and some automotive glue, held beautifully...soon after got a crack in the windshield, now hoping they can get it off tomorrow when new windshield is installed, also got a brand new bracket again (it costs only about $14)...cross your fingers for me that the automotive glue gives when they take the mirror off...or my original mirror goes back on.

Update: Homelink mirror was removed with the two screws (no glue at this connection point) and I had them leave the glued bracket on the cracked windshield. Asked them to use the same glue to attach new bracket to the new windshield. Mirror seems pretty sturdy with this setup, time will tell.

It has been rock solid ever since, and looks more factory now.

How'd you get the OEM plate off the windshield? I just made an attempt at it with a heat gun and razor blade with not much luck. Any trick to it?

I just used a single eged razor blade and went around the base several times. It is like a rubber glue. It will twist off.
