Weather:
Hot and Humid as Ballz in Houston (95-100~ish)

Driving Impressions coming later as i didn't have time to really get into it.
Highest HP dyno run hit 270hp.

177 torque? What is stock torque usually rated at? 115-120? That's not a big bump

What do you expect from the crappy boxer engine they put in our cars...LOL

Real world butt dyno: It feels good and it's "quick". If you want better numbers go with a modern garrett turbo, fuel upgrades, clutch, etc. (or possibly a different car all together hahaha)

Of the dyno images i was given looks like the max torque was 181. No idea if should be higher or not. Or if the dyno numbers would be different elsewhere. I trust the tuner as he has a good reputation in the area. I am sure we could get higher numbers, but I wanted safe, not max.

I have a UEL header, deleted restrictor, fuel cutoff at 7100 RPM, and a lightweight crank pulley.
Here is my dyno, also done on a hot day and also on 93 fuel. This is a V1 blower, since replaced with a V3 compressor which appears to be identical and using the original V1 100mm pulley. It looks like peak torque at ~ 6300 RPM was 209 ft/lbs

BTW: We are going to do some dyno runs in December or January just to get some data on the new GT2 kit. Should be interesting to compare hot/cold. Then early new year I plan to do a flex fuel tune and possible bigger pulley. Though my horse power goal is only 300 so...probably wont need the pulley.

Tial BOV

Anyone running a Tial BOV with the v3 Kit? I’ve seen it a few times but haven’t gotten the details on adapters and flanges needed.

too lazy. I've stated the numbers above anyway.

Hey, guys

I've just recently become a proud owner of an HKS supercharged toyobarü.

After a tune revision in august this year, I drove up a curvy mountain road to test out the tune and perform some datalogs. The car at that time had a custom tune and mild stage 2 bolt-ons (Gruppe-S header, AVO overpipe, Berk frontpipe, silicone intake elbow + Cosworth panel filter).

What happened was my worst fear coming true. Due to not having an oil cooler, the oil rose up to dangerously high numbers, thinning out and I spun the rod bearing #1 which also damaged the crankshaft and scored the cylinder wall. My fault for not having a proper oil cooler:

What happened next is me deciding to ship the whole car to GP Performance in Germany for a proper rebuild and during the course of the rebuild also opted for the HKS supercharger kit.

The engine has a new 2017+ shortblock, stronger rods, stronger head studs instead of OEM head bolts, modifications of the oiling system (GP performance trade secret :P ) including a new TODA oil pump and oil pan baffle.

While "in there", the valves, both timing chains, valve springs (intake springs have a higher spring rate), injector seals, plugs...have been replaced with new ones and some upgraded ones, to start with a really fresh engine.

The heads, timing cover, oil pan,...were cleaned with their aquablast parts cleaner to remove any bearing residue and the rest of the gunk:

Slightly thicker HKS head gaskets brought the CR a bit down, to make the engine a little bit more knock resistant:

The engine also features an oil pressure sensor linked directly to the ECU/Ecutek tune. If the oil pressure drops below a certain threshold, the CEL turns on, if it is still dropping, the ECU will initiate a fuel cut to remind the donkey behind the wheel (me) to take it easy.

Engine oil has been changed to Motul 300V 5W_40, cooled by an HKS oil cooler sitting directly behind the right fog-light (both fog lights have been removed):

The car now produces 311 HP at the crank, with peak boost of 0.7 bar (10 psi):

I love the effortless nature of the car. Realizing I'm still in the honeymoon phase, I think the power levels are enough Maybe I'll opt for a better header (ACE) and fuel upgrades in the future, but as it currently stands, I love it

hi, which rods did you choose? stock pistons?
i 'm rebuilding too, with the same kit (v2 gt2) as yours, plus ace headers and a too extreme ecu tune, I threw a rod and destroyed the short block

The WRX/Forester XT ones. Nothing too extreme, just to make the engine more resistant to the higher power output.

The pistons are stock.

GP Perfomance owner Patrick shared his experience and said they should be fine with builds around 360 crank HP. They can handle more (also very tune specific regarding the torque wave in relation to engine speed) but should be fine, all day long, hovering around the 360 mark.

That's unfortunate Wish you a speedy recovery

ah cool,
i m too keeping stock pistons, i bought a new OEM short block and put inside tapered Brain Crower forged rods

I think too stock pistons are good, I had 0.97Bar of boost but I threw a rod at less than 4k rpm and 0.4bar of boost, just because I was trying hard to raise the torque at low rpm.... bad choice

thanks, and nice work!

I prefer the gradual/linear power delivery of this kit, so there are no crazy torque spikes in the lower RPM ranges.

Chasing peak numbers is also not a priority.

Did you have to chamfer the rods yourself, to fit the stock piston?

Maybe we should continue the conversation somewhere else, not to clutter this thread with my ramblings :P
