Well, that's just sad. Now my weekend is shot.

Oh don't be sad. It all balanced out. He did buy me my first car at 13 after all.
Didn't eat green beans but could rebuild a carburetor and free a seized engine by 14.

You got BACON grease? Bastards.
We had melmac trays. More indestructible than metal!

Well, I can't help it if your Canadian bacon doesn't make grease -

At least your trays didn't suck the remaining warmth out of the "food" as quickly an the metal trays did.

Yep, most of the food we ate back on the farm was grown on our farm. Fresh or canned (actually in Mason jars) corn, green beans, peas and tomatoes. Frozen beef, pork and lamb. Fresh chicken, eggs, milk, cheese and butter.

Good eating -

Not ashamed to admit I enjoyed a tasty late lunch of Carne asada fries.

So, it took you a year to rebuild the carburetor and un-seize the engine on the car your dad bought you?

Maybe the engine wasn't seized at all and you were only strong enough to crank it over at age 14?

We had a big ol' chest freezer in the basement. I remember it being long enough to hold half the cow.
