Sounds like its time to register the car in a different state. That's just a ridiculous attitude for them to have.

True, although I was an early adopter and one of the semi-silent majority that didn't have an issue.

Certainly couldn't hurt to try I suppose.

What's "user error" about this?

OK, "human error", it is not the the repair itself its the execution of it that causes issues.

I think that @SPCorBUST was referring not only to the 'failure after recall' issues, but the predicament some of us with modified engines have been put in, whether or not it applies.

If someone has already replaced the faulty part, they should be granted a waiver as there is no longer a faulty part to replace.

That's why I'm wondering if anybody has gotten a waiver. I've never considered litigation but this seems like something they shouldn't be able to do, just bar me from ever registering or driving this car again unless I do this.

If you've already replaced the valve springs, just send proof to Toyota and let them know that you've replaced the faulty parts on your own dime. You may even qualify for reimbursement.

Q5: What if I previously paid for repairs related to this Safety Recall?
A5: Reimbursement consideration instructions will be provided in the owner letter.

Kirby Subaru in Ventura. They said they've done over a hundred to date with no issues on any of the BRZ's they've done the recall work to.

Have about 2k on car since the work was done with no issues. Overall work was good but they had my car for almost two weeks.

I did that with my R1 and the TPS sensor, they gave me the part and I fitted it.
They got paid from Yamaha to do the job and saved me from trailering it in.

So apparently this recall is now mandatory?
I got my bill for this years car registration and the DMV is requesting a certificate of the valve springs getting replaced. I avoided this mess since I don’t have any problems with my car and worried i might get it back with engine problems after reading all these post! Is there any way to avoid this recall??
