Debt means that you owe somebody money... When you finance something, that means you are borrowing money that you then owe and must pay back... how are you not seeing that financing a car is putting your mom in debt??? Financing also means paying interest on the debt (except in the rare case of a 0% loan) so "paying it off slowly" is actually a bad thing because you are accruing more interest the longer that you take to pay off the loan.
It's between you and your mom what choice is made in the end but please understand that YOU ARE putting your mom into debt if she finances a car for you.

First day of high school accounting: there is no such thing as an interest free loan. It is built into the total price.

Well that turns into an argument of semantics. If you pay no interest, you pay no interest. Sure, in many cases the stipulation on that 0% loan may mean that you have to pay MSRP and/or forgo other cash incentives, so the "savings" of 0% interest are lost up front... but sometimes a discount may be negotiated in addition to the 0% interest.
We digress, my point is that the OP is putting his mom in debt if he has her finance a car loan for his sake.

Personally, I would get a car that I wouldnt see anyone else driving in, except rarely. Most people in my town drive Mercedes, porsche, so those are out. McLaren would definitely be a good one. I'm sure you can also find pre owned ferrari, Lamborghini, aston for 200k. Most importantly, go to dealerships and talk to them about your options. That's one of the reasons I got a brz, NOBODY has them by me. I see a fellow 86 maybe once every five days. They are a poor choice for car to own in snowy Boston. If you were in a gtr, Lamborghini, you would probably only see another one once in a rare while. Ps, get a s1000rr, I've owned two.

Alternative: Get a cheap car you don't GAF about now and buy whatever car you want after school is over. You'll never have to worry about someone wrecking your car in the parking lot, whether it be by accident or for the lulz, if it's pre-wrecked. I'd personally be impressed if you did that voluntarily to understand how the other 99% gets around.

Not to sound rude but I personally don’t care how others get around

Ok so I’ve come to realise this was clearly NOT the right place to post this as I’ve gotten nothing but people telling me to buy something cheap when that’s not what I was here for. I already own a cheap car which is my BRZ. Does anyone here mind helping me and telling me how to close threads? Thanks

No I am not a troll as I stated before but this thread was not helpful and clearly posted in the wrong place. I too want to close this thread now but I don’t know how. And when I say I don’t care how others get around it’s because it doesn’t involve me in any way just like when people here are telling me to buy a car for a professor, like what? I’m here for opinions on the cars I’m likely getting not here to buy someone I care nothing about a new car.

Just stop posting and the thread will die on it’s own. There is no way other than to have a moderator close it and I doubt they will since the only thing wrong is your entitled whining and total lack of any grasp of reality.
Just go have your mother not go into debt by financing an expensive car so that your not rich lifestyle is not hampered by driving an old junket BRZ.

Well, there are plenty of rich kids in the second and third worlds (Soviet and non-aligned) so I'd have to debate against that.

Edit, and this one might need to be one long hard debate if you catch my drift.

Your biggest mistake was asking twin owners about a 570s lol.

I'd get a 720s if I were you tbh; the 570s is rather pedestrian compared to the only slightly more expensive 720s. Then you also have my personal favourite, the Acura NSX, from a reliability stand point, this is the supercar to have, easily daily material.

Take it from me, an owner of a 2017 86. I know what I'm talking about.
