Good post!

Does anyone know if the forester uses the same crush ring though? My local dealer had no idea which one the BRZ used so he gave me both.

Toyota is using part# SU003-00311 but it is just a repackaged 15208AA130 book list is $20.97 quite a jump up from our normal filters
which list out @ $6.95 it is a pretty hefty filter though

I am still curious about my Royal Purple filter. I have a thing for royal purple, and that sexy purple on top would be an awesome touch.

Direct from Mobil 1 website:\ Ok the cut and paste didn't work. It's theM1-104 for the BR-Z so obviously the same for the FR-s. Oddly no 2013 Scions show up on the drop down menu, but Subaru did and the BR-Z popped right up.

Year: 2013

I think it will be a little bit of time before Toyota does some pricing adjustments on parts. For now, I'm thinking in most cases it will be cheaper (sometimes significantly) to get parts from Subaru.

It's the same filter and crush as the forester.

Bought a Trd one
I have no past experience with Trd filters but I figure the red would add a lil eye candy under the hood even if there was not really a big upside

The FRS comes with 2yr/25K maintenance, but I've always done oil changes myself. I may give it a try @ my local dealer, tempting since it looks like OCs will cost me ~$35. for oil & filter. I'll probably wind up doing them myself, as they're likely to waste too much of my time. Then there's the fact that the low man on the garage totem pole gets the OCs. Hell, who am I kidding, just ordered 4 of the Subie filters. This site is the Holy Grail of all things motor oil/filters: http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums...s.php?ubb=cfrm

I called around and found subaru to be more expensive. My local subaru dealer wanted $28 per filter and $79 for an oil change lol a close by toyota dealer wanted $25 for the oil filter and $69.99 for the oil change. I ended up going to a far away toyota dealer and got a buy 3 get 1 free on oil filters at $20 for the first 3 filters 4th was free As for the crush washer it is not a crush washer its actually flat Since I live in Texas and do some Track duty I went for Motul It runs significantly quieter.

I cant believe this 2.0 boxer engine takes so much oil lol 5.8 LOL thats a BIG BOTTLE OF MOTUL AND A HALF A LITTLE ONE

Just went to my dealership to pick up some filters. They are going to the 15208-AA-160 for all engines with top-mount filters (FA/FB). I'm not sure if the 130s will continue to be available or not. At my dealership they're apparently only stocking the 160s.
