Well, there's also the supercap option. The problem with those is they lose charge faster.

most likely cuplrit when computers don't post is usually memory

otherwise, it could be the default bios-- if you're using a wireless keyboard on a motherboard with ps/2 mouse/keyboard ports, sometimes the lack of a ps/2 keyboard will halt post

Had that with a few pc's as well. Problably a correct shutdown will fix it. Try using the following command in the command prompt:
Code:
Shutdown /s /t 01

Start by changing the CMOS battery. Then move on to more expensive solutions.

The only other option would by parasitic power off the power supply. I'd rather have to deal with a battery. When the PSU is off, it needs to be off.

So now it's just the orange DRAM light. I'll change the CMOS battery first, but we will see what happens.

92 hours playing Days Gone. I'm still enjoying it. The world is quite well put together. There are passing cut scenes of moral ambiguity. The portrayal of the collapse looks a little plausible. That is, people trying to eke out an existence on the remnants of the past. The zombies aren't supernatural zombies, they are infected by man made virus.

Something I've notice in some video games is the cold often doesn't affect the character. I think it's Assassin's Creed (but I'm not sure) where the character loses health in freezing water but regains his health once he gets out of the water even though it is freezing and his clothing is soaked.
In Days Gone there are people wearing clothes suitable for 20-25C degree weather but it is snowing and they are oblivious to the cold. I always notice this incongruity.

Well, that's an improvement over the original AC where you could take a "Leap of Faith" from 100ft but you died if you fell in water, and you couldn't climb trees.

I have to admit that sometimes I miss the simplicity of consoles over PC. Turn on, insert disk/load game and enjoy your game.
But on PC; game fails: update GPU drive, update PC, check for firewall settings, scan and repair files, change display settings, open task manager and set high priority. It can get quite annoying.

The great thing about PCs, I have to admit, is that you can pinpoint a piece of faulty hardware and replace it, on consoles it may mean you have to get a whole new unit.

I think the software side is mostly a windows problem combined with publishers pushing shitty launchers on PC.

I’m curious how viable Valve’s OS (starting with Steam Deck) will be long term for PC gaming. If it gains traction and adheres to its current ideology it may make PC gaming easier, more of a set it and forget it solution.

Yes, a lot of the times it comes down to software. Some games like Warzone are constantly being updated, that means that the latest driver from Nvidia may not be fully compatible so that creates issues by itself. Or the latest driver from a game changes your settings so you have to go back and change them to what they used to be.

Im a bit skeptical about the Steam Deck, the main ones being cooling, repair-ability, and battery degradation if you're to play demanding tittles constantly, thought mitigated by a FPS limiter option.

Reminds me of the PSP or PS Vita, that were pretty great for their time, but the lack of support for games and horrible battery life were their doom. Kind of funny how handheld mini consoles have made a comeback.

My plan is to see how it deals with new titles for a few years, if it gets bad I can always use it to stream games from my desktop/PS5. I don’t really play on the go anyway. I just want to be able to play when I want, not when the tv isn’t being hogged by kids.

Honestly, I can think of only one time I had this issue with a game, although I don't specifically remember which game.

Then again, I don't tend to run games on the bleeding edge either.

Most of the times for me is running Warzone, because the constant updates and then the lack of new drivers from Nvidia. Aside from that, is compatibility with older games, such as Need for Speed: Pro Street, which I really got into this weekend, forgot how fun it was. A bit tricky to get up and running.
