that isn't a new feature. It has been around since the beginning of the board.

Year 1992 (if I'm not wrong.) My first year at the university. A friend of mine is rich and has a PC. It is 386. Oh my god, what a machine. So he knows a lot about computers. He takes us to the computer lab of the faculty. Computer means playing Test Drive on Amiga to me. So I had no particular interest on the stupid terminal computers of the lab. But we are here to see what internet is. I don't remember the browser, but I guess it was Netscape. He opens it!

He tells: "Now we are connected to the world! Name something and I'll take you there..."
Me: "Let's see the Mercedes!!!"

He enters something. And we start to wait.. Wait.. Wait some more.. then... OMG!! a Mercedes picture. Maybe it is 100x100 pixels. But.. it really is a Mercedes photo.. Is this coming from the Mercedes factory?

My god, what a joy. What a thrill!

Year 2020. I sometimes live similar kind of thrills; when there is no database error and I can successfully connect to this forum!

This is almost poetic! Never say you don't understand English again.

Must be difficult.

Usually where I live, the planned DB errors happen when I’m asleep or otherwise occupied. But now that I’m visiting Japan on the other side of the world the errors are at the times when I really can’t help wanting to check the forums!

Sigh.

The planned errors are not the issue. The site has been down on and off almost all day for the last 4 days or so.

Probably 1994. But it's certain to be in the previous century

Those were crazy days for sure! There were ways to get images in '92, just not graphical browsers. Feels like so long ago.
