Ahh I was hoping I could just cut around stuff to get out without taking out the dash. taking out glove box on passenger side to get to that side is easy. Every last ounce must be gone!

Oh your taking out the beam running across? On my 3000gt years ago I swiss cheezed mine. Keeps it usefull but you can get most of the weight off it.

Also there is a useless plate under the steering column. Just take the plastic cover off its sitting there doing nothing supporting nothing. Good for free 1.5lbs !

Also plan to take the welds off the mounting plate for stock 2pc driveshaft since its useless with a one piece. Theres always more free weigh if you keep looking!

I'm going to take it out and get a weight on it first. I haven't seen one out there yet. Could be 10lbs, could be 20 . We'll see

I found that thanks to one of your posts. I had no clue what you were talking about until I removed the plastic.

Did you get the washer bottle and the metal bracket? I'm still wanting to keep it so I can return it to stock but it's looking more and more like a track car lol

Yep washer bottle was one of the first things I did last year. Neighbors must have thought I was crazy taking my front bumper off a brand new car haha.

Drilling out the welds on that Driveshaft mount will be the most drastic thing ive done. I still have all the stock parts to return to stock (besides shocks/struts, sold them to pay for coilovers). Once I start cutting and drilling though it will be the point of no return.

Also my Mishimotor slim fan kit arrived according to another member not any weight loss over stock. But Im going to run only with the passenger fan since the drivers fan is for AC equipped cars (no more AC in mine). Should take a few lbs off the front driver side. The hardest side to lose weight. Im going to weight when I get home from work.

Don't know if you ever got to this but I just ordered a used one for $100. Was heavier than expected at 17lbs. Im going to swiss cheese the FK out of this thing! Then I can just swap with stock one

Thanks Tom! Can't wait to see what else is back there.

I just pulled mine off the road unless we get a nice day. Once the snow flies it's being torn apart

mine is going to be my snow machine so wont happen till after winter. I know the insulation back there is worth about 5lbs. Would be nice to chop this brace down from 17 to 7. That would be 15lbs total

I think that's realistic. I'll wait to get mine out to see how I'm going to go about it. I can't afford CF doors but will be using dimple dies extensively. I plan on recreating steel/metal parts out of aluminum too.

I have a tendency to get lazy in the winter months. I'm hoping this will keep me more active

yeah swiss cheesing this brace is going to take some time hence why I bought a used one to work on.

Think I may also get a used headlight radiator support and dimple die that might get a few more pounds off the nose since it bolts off and on

That's piece is on my list to dimple die also. The rear deck and inside door panels as well. I don't think it'll add up to be substantial but every little bit counts and it free! I had it corner balanced a few weeks ago and I'm at 2,574. My interior is gutted though.

Good call on that metal bracket under the steering wheel Supertom!

Have you guys thought about also removing the metal bracket that holds the OBD2 port? It's doesn't seem structural at all and to be honest is a hinderance in connecting the obd2. Would rather just have it hang free. However, I'm not quite sure how involved the process is.

Edit: Nevermind -- that bracket extends all the way across behind the climate control knobs to under the glovebox

Also, although it's incredibly minor, drilling the handbrake lever would be a minor weight savings as the peice is over-engineered and non-structural. I have my center console removed and it's out in the open, so it'll be a cosmetic thing for me too.

All of these are minor weight losses but they add up. I'd like to see you ebrake drilled out.

Here is my rad support. 1/4lb loss and still very strong. It looks cool too IMO. I still need to clean it up and paint it.
