Lol not by choice. The 25row is a remnant from my turbo days.

But it works. Temps stabilize at 200 deg F driving really hard on track.

Going high boost in a few weeks with Mike @ moto-east. I just drove the car through 130 degree temps on 91 through death valley a few weeks ago. Altitude went from 12,000 ft to sea level on my trip. No issues at all, Mike's tune was awesome. Car is on JRSC with stock exhaust now, just headers.

Mods to be done next week or the week after:

Full Amuse system (mid, over and exhaust)
Upgraded pulley
Flex Fuel
Injectors
Pump

Ill post the dyno as soon as Mike is done with it. We are going to run 93 as much as possible (I cant find e85 every where in NJ / NYC). But he said the kit should be good to switch back and forth. He knows I drive the car like I stole it.

If I do ship the car out west. Where we will have extreme altitude / temps, I will have mike do a retune.

Would this be track worthy on a stock block with all of the mentioned supporting mods on 93 octane, plus an oil cooler?

Or is this setup more of a 'street' solution?

I was playing with the idea of the regular CARB kit but I ve got a full exhaust so a custom tune would have been necessary anyways. At least with this setup there'd be more power on the table, assuming that the reliability is there.

CSG had it for a year. Pretty safe to say it's been track tested.

As far as I know they've been tracking the CARB setup of the JRSC on their shop car for some time which is great, but that's not the same thing as tracking the small pulley/high boost version.

We've tracked both extensively.

I would not track on the HB pulley with 93. If you read the JRSC manual, on the first page, you'll see a recommendation for race gas only at the race track, even in CARB form. E85 would certainly qualify as race gas, as would 100+ octane. 93 is not race gas.

Can you? Sure. Are you putting your engine at a large risk? Yes.

so its a bit marginal when on boost then? by that I mean you need the safety margin of E85 to support the boost without grenading the stock bottom end?

this still seems a sketchy to me as rods fail due to high pressure and its known that they are the weak link, just piling the boost in I think will result in tears down the road

Real track work is hard on the stock engine (hence the need for oil coolers, different oil, etc), why wouldn't you think more than doubling the output of the engine wouldn't accelerate that?

It all depends on what you're doing with the car, and what your power goals are. Your tuner will best be able to answer this question, as everyone's setup and goal varies.

In our experience, we haven't had any issues caused by the increased output, except needing a new clutch.

+1 for HBP driving videos, preferably on a track.

Mike, did you find that a higher rated (or new OE clutch) was required in general for the higher boost pulley, or specifically for the pulley + E85 + track conditions?

If I've read and understood the reporting correctly, you can run the pulley on 93 octane under street conditions, but you need E85 or 100+ octane for track conditions. That's straightforward enough, but if a higher spec clutch is also a must for track conditions (or even street conditions) then I'd like to confirm this for a proper set-up.

Thanks.
