So is there any way of knowing if the recall was done or not?

Not really. The car was reported as water damaged in January 18 and a write of in February. This was the very beginning of the recall and not many cars were done yet. It is a very, very strong probability that it was never done. The Carfx would say if it was done before writeoff. That is the best case scenario really.

Well, according to what was reported here the VIN range for the recall was

DBA-ZC 6 "BRZ" ZC 6-002002 to ZC 6-010144 March 9, 2012 to July 2, 2013 7,803

He could check the manufacturing date on the driver's door sticker to be sure but it does look like the VIN JF1ZCAC11D1613064 is outside that range.

That is a good idea with any cars. Ask them if they think the car was heavily modified at one point. They will know what to look for.

okay thank you so much. i shouldn’t be concerned that it is a relatively “higher” mile brz? asking because it does need to last me a few years

also, if the car was heavily modded before i should stay away, correct?

Well for a '13 that's not really high mileage, less than 10K a year. My '13 FRS has over 175K miles on it with no issues.

That may be "higher" but isn't high mileage. My 14 had over twice that when I sold it and it is still going strong now as far as I know. Keep up on the maintenance and don't beat the crap out of it (over rev, burnout every start, etc) and it will last you a good long time. Of course there are never any 100% bulletproof cars (no matter what some say) it isn't made of glass and will last as well as it is taken care of.

Yes if it appears to have been heavily modded stay far far away unless you like fixing things.
