Oversteer issues with Tein Flex A
About a month ago I had the Tein Flex As installed on my brz and I've started to notice what I think is an oversteer issue the more that I drive it. When I'm about at the apex of a turn the car feels almost bouncy and the rear starts to slide a little and traction control comes on. The worrying part is that this happens on turns that aren't even aggressive.
Does anyone have any ideas what to do? I've tried adjusting the suspension to really soft (6 clicks from softest) all the way around, all the way up to 4 clicks from the stiffest. Here are is my numbers post-alignment |

Alignment looks fine. You consider the fact it could be your driving which is causing the issue?

Try setting the rear a little softer than the front

Check of everything tighten down. I had this happen after I got my alightment and I brought it back and my rear lower arm was loose. After it was tighten and realignment it was fine. I would take it back and have the shop do another alignment.

Chiming in here. I drove @brzsubie's car and there is oversteer but the more pressing matter is that the dampers aren't critically damped and making the car unpredictable during hard driving. To my feel, the car is neutral but the car is unsettled easily. We dialed the front to 12 from full soft and the rears 15 from full soft. These settings felt compliant enough for the backroad we were driving on but the dampers feel underdamped on rebound. Compression felt fine.
What would help is if someone with Flex As and track experience chimed in with their settings to get us started with dialing in the shocks. Thanks.

Ride height?
Too low and you're on very stiff bump stops which will wreck any sense of stability. |

Sometimes, the obvious has to be pointed out.
Get me a datalog from your car, and I can determine what is actually happening. If you are able, replicate the event with the pedal dance active, on a skidpad or similar safe location, and get a datalog. Otherwise, it's just all speculation. |

Like Mike said, whatever you think its happening, you wont really know with traction control/stability control active. Even with those disabled (5 sec push), if you are lifting a wheel, the car will still do some strange things and moves about in a weird way (only if you lift a rear wheel, which could happen when hitting curbs at apex for example).
Anyways, take traction and stability control off, you are not learning much with it on, and you wont know what your car is actually doing. Also, looking at your alignment and the spring rates of the Teins, I really really doubt you are actually oversteering, if anything, you should have some serious understeer in your setup. |
