Question for those who installed the TRD sway bar kit

Did it come with lube? I bought the kit 2nd hand with new bushings, but no lube was included, so I installed them with no lube. Was this incorrect?

TIA

I don't have these swaybars, so I'm sorry if I shouldn't post- but you need to lube the bushings if they're poly

The TRD 21mm front bushings look and feel identical to oem bushings though, they are super soft. But I’ve seen pictures of the kit on eBay with lube so I just wanted to double check before plucking it out again.

If it's rubber I wouldn't grease it, if it's poly you should. I guess someone who has it WILL need to answer, haha

No I bought the bushings from my local dealer. Dude who sold me the bar without bushings told me they use the original bushings which I knew to be completely untrue.

I just went out and checked my car which came with the TRD sway bars installed from the dealer/factory. The bushings appear to be poly but quite a bit softer than the poly bushings/mounts I put in my trans am. They were lubed from the factory.

FWIW

Thanks for checking, sounds like the front bar will be coming out for service.

I’ll tackle it when I do header gaskets...sounds like I have a long date under the front of my car.

Probably a good idea. Being a softer compound it might be a bit more forgiving however ?

The poly bushings I did on my T/A were much harder, almost like a hockey puck. They squeaked like crazy right out of the box during a test fit.

Yup, every other poly sway bar bushing I’ve installed has been hard as a rock. Like you need a flat head screw driver to pry the sucker open enough to get it over the bar.

These TRD bushings I feel like I could tear in half.

Wrap bar with teflon tape where it contacts the bushings.

This is a good idea. Also saves me from buying the seemingly lifetime supply of Energy suspension lube on Amazon.

just checked mine and they are rubber rather than poly. my kit came with the new bushings all new hardware and grease as well.

could be a future upgrade to swap out my rubber bushings for poly units - if i can find poly ones of the right size.

Yeah I played it safe and just did the Teflon tape.

You can also buy 21mm AVO poly bushings here:
