Do the people who run winter tires still have sandbags in the trunk or do you find the tires alone give enough grip?
I don't think driving on clean roads would be an issue. They do wear faster on warm roads because of the soft compound, but I used mine from November through March last year and they still look basically new.

I've read some pretty lengthy and technical discussions here on the topic of extra weight in back. My interpretation of it was that extra weight helps mostly when starting from a stop, especially when on hills. However it also makes oversteer more dramatic and harder to control. Of course, if you do get stuck somewhere having some sand available to throw out in front of your tires can be really helpful. I should mention that the information above involves physics I don't remember in a thread I can't find, so take it with a grain of salt

I've been seeing a WRB heading west on Emerson/Golf in Evanston in the morning off and on. I'm sometimes there heading east in my DGM. Speak up if you're here!

Subaru Dealers?

Hi, had my 86 for over 3 years now, still loving it. Been a crazy 3 years, started dating my "now wife" shortly after I got the car, and we were married in October. Anyway, that's beside the point. My wife has a 2001 Buick Century that has served her well, but its really time to upgrade. We are primarily looking at the Subaru Outback right now (86 is 100% out of the question, Buick Century is a sporty car to her) and were wondering if anyone had recommendations on Subaru Dealers in the South Suburbs or NWI? If you had an Awful experience, I would like to know about it just as much as a good experience!

P.S. It probably goes without saying, but no, she will not be modding her Outback

Thank you Touge Factory! I got winter wheels and tires from you when I first got my FR-S, and I was amazed at the price and service i got from you, you are a class act, and i have recomended your place to quite a few others.

So, its rather ironic then ths the "new-used" that my wife has been watching for a while was actually at that location!!! Well, we went out there, they were extremely nice, very upfront about fair pricing right off the bat, and long story short, we have a '14 outback in the garage tonight!!! Thank you for the suggestion!!!
