What the best way of removing these spots ?

Hi guys.
It’s the first summer owning my first car in the US and experience the wonder spots coming down from the trees. I wash my car regularly (once a week) and try to use good products with good rating ( Adams etc) I also do wax (used the wet turtle wax) which ended up very nicely. But all these efforts is maintained 1 maximum 2 days and all over the car is sticky again.

What is the best way to get off the spots shown in the picture? If the car is wet you can see them, dry it they are gone? Wet it and spend time on it with a clean towel it’s gone. It you can not do it for the whole car.

You said you use good products, but what processes are you using?

Clay bar? Finishing glaze? Buffer or by hand?

I just try to use good products which fit my budget. I do just basic cleaning. Wet the car, use Adams shampoo and hand wash by using a two sided microfiber wash sponge



and rinse it. Every 3 washes I use the Wet turtle wax and dry it.

I know it’s very basic. At the beginning of the summer I did not have these and car turned out shining after each wash. Since the stick thing increased for the last month I realize them after rinsing the car. Once I dry the area it almost completely disappears. If you happen to go over the same area with a wet towel you can see them again until you dry that place. Pfffff...

A product like citrol 266 will get rid of tree sap with ease.
Because of the chemical nature of citrol once you get the debris off your paint, be sure to rinse over the area with good car soap to neutralize the acidic components from citrol.

Looks to me like a clay bar may take that residue off -

The spot are in multiple places. Is it ok to use the citrol 266 or clay bar on the whole car ?

You can try using a clay bar or a nano mitt to take that off. Citrol 266 should also work, and I've used Meguair's wheel brightener to remove tough stains as well (also acid based).

If those don't work you can try polishing it out by hand or with a buffer.

You can apply the cleaner and use clay bar on the whole car. I would recommend that you wax the whole car right after though, as both of those will remove your wax.

yeah, i think you just need to clay and re-wax the car. those appear to be water spots, i suspect some of the imperfections are 'trapped' under a coat of wax, which makes them more elusive.

Started wetting the car and used Adam’s shampoo. Rinsed, dried and used Adam’s ultra fine clay bar with Adam’s Detail spray. After this wetted again and used Turtle wet waxing for the finish. Turned out great! More than my expectations. Nothing left!!! Happy BRZ owner. Thanks guys!!!

Looks like @soundman98 was correct in that you just waxed those stains in and were protecting them. It seems counterintuitive especially if you do a good job
of keeping the car clean and waxed all the time but sometimes you just have to strip it all down back to the bare paint and start over.

I keep mine garaged and barely drive it but I still will yearly clay it and strip it all down and reapply all the sealant and wax all over.

Ex of etching mark:

If its an etching mark then it can easily be removed with a finishing polish like Meguiar's M205 and a 5" cutting or finishing pad, polishing at medium / high speed for 1 minute each 2x2' section. Use the lightest polish and pad for the application, no need to use a cutting polish like M105 or Ultimate Polish. I definitely recommend owning a nice DA polisher kit and using it at least once a year along with your usual regimen of washing, claying, and waxing.

Also you might be able to find a nicer silicone wax than Turtle Wax spray waxes. Try Meguiar's and Chemical Guy's stuff. Not really a fan of the spray-on-wet products since you can get a better result by doing it with a good wax applied on a dry finish, and buffed with quality microfiber towels.

yeah, if you're only ever washing and waxing, it does nothing to get rid of the spots, scratches, and other paint imperfections. at least once a year, it's always a good idea to strip it all down with some dish soap and a clay bar, polish it (i like using wolfgang uber compound, but to each their own), and then wax.

I actually bought Meguiar’s gold class but was not brave enough to apply it.



Since I am learning, next time I will use this wax with the Adam’s microfiber towel.

I never used a polisher and really scare to create swirling by not properly touching the paint. Getting a polisher and upgrade my car caring would be grate. Any suggestions for a good polisher or kit? I am happy to invest for something over average!
