I think you can get a new Subaru base manual for $24,500 before tax. I don't know what tax and license is in your state, but if it comes to 5%, you're looking at $25,725 for a brand new car.

That's pretty good mileage for a '13...mine has close to 55K on it now, and I don't drive a whole lot. Check your build date and VIN and look into what TSBs and recalls apply to it. The early ones needed some 'fine tuning'...lol. Where in MA are you? Are you gonna DD it?

I decided a few months back to not chance the valve spring recall. But that is a good idea to see what other TSBs I should get done. Boston. Its a DD that also sees 30ish track days, handful of autocross and and handful of drift events a year.

First car was a 2013 off the lot $25k USD, was a manual, Hot Lava FR-S. Traded for a 2009 BMW 328xi. ~2016(New kid). Beginning of 2017 I bought another manual, Hot Lava, 2014 FR-S with 38k miles and kept the BMW. Had to buy it remotely from New York and ship to Missouri. As I could not find a Hot Lava manual in my area. Payed $16k USD.

Things I found out after:
  1. The engine ran well, no issues found or service lights
  2. Slight complex dent on hood, might fix but will be ~800ish
  3. Was mostly stock except a higher end HID headlight upgrade.

First things I did:
  1. Had it inspected for any issues (none found)
  2. Replaced engine oil/filter
  3. Polished and cleaned foggy/yellow headlights back to clear
  4. Replaced tires with Bridgestone Pole Position S-04
  5. Put in a Mishimoto performance intake
  6. Swapped transmission and diff oil with Motul GEAR Oil 75W90
  7. Put in a OEM arm rest (best money I have ever spent)

Why did you go from a Cayman, M3 to a FR-S? or is it you still have those?

After having the 1st FRS for a year I wanted more power. So I switched over to the Cayman. Biggest problem for me with the Cayman is its not kids friendly and I can't bring 4 tires to the track (not a trailer guy). Plus I wanted even more power. So sold that and got a M3. It was a pretty perfect car for my wants and needs but the cost of consumables and cost of a track incident was high. So replaced it with another FRS and addressed the power issue with a Jackson Racing supercharger.

Ah, makes sense. As far as tracking the M3 what cost more? Is it the tires, larger oil capacity or some other hidden cost associated with a BMW?

Mainly pads and tires (rotors are free while on warranty). I was burning through a set of track pads every 6 days at $500ish a set. Roughly the same number of days for tires at $1200ish a set. Then there is the potential incident cost, with the FRS I can get another one for 10k-ish which is alot easier on the wallet compare to the 40k-ish of the M3.
