Isn’t MD just 5 miles wide? Down here if you can make the drive from Houston to El Paso you’re over halfway to LA.

So not a smib but working towards it. Gotcha
Here to LA is only 41 hours. Don't ask me how I know. I'll (hopefully) never do that again.

Another month another rally.
Was up to check out the Tall Pines Rally up in Bancroft. Had a great weekend in an area I don’t really know. The competitors and local support were quite friendly, humorous & patient. Points to Bancroft Brewing, we had to do 2 visits to get enough of the required souvenirs… Expectations were for a cold and snowy weekend but the sun turned up and that made for a very pleasant day. The stages in the morning being snow & ice to turn into some beautiful dirty mud by noon… Quite challenging photo wise to cover some speed in the shade & then max out in the sun and snow. Here are a few that popped out of as being worthy to show: f/5.6, 1/3200sec, 500mm, 500 iso f/4.5, 1/800 ,70mm, 250 iso f/5,6, 1/1250, 500mm, 500iso f/5.6, 1/640, 500mm, 500 iso f/6.4, 1/250, 85mm, 800 iso f/7.1,1/800,500mm, 800 iso We got back quite late at my brothers place where I had left “rusty” to discover I had a flat from a misplaced screw. After contemplating a fix for 10 seconds it was decided some sofa surfing for me for the night with some souvenir sampling was a better option. And for a few more 86 specific rally pict there’s a few more in here: https://www.ft86club.com/forums/show...105692&page=10 |

Bancroft is about an hour and twenty minutes straight north from my place. I have only missed a few years in the last couple of decades. Unfortunately I'm still recovering from my last bout of pancreatitis so this year I had to pass. Glad you enjoyed yourself. There are lots of great roads in the area although, there are more and more summer camps, cottages and full time homes being built. This causes "slow" traffic and other hazards plus an increase in police patrols.

I have the rally down on my repeat to do list after seeing the compact area they use compared to the spread out scenario used in Charlevoix that I was at last month.
I always thought Tall Pines was lost up north somewhere in central Ontario where you keep the polar bears and up to this year checking the location on a map never occurred to me. I did it with my brother CB750F(that cone killer) in his new Ranger as both of the BRZ are now in hibernation. We were the only ones on those roads 90% of the time and reference to being in our BRZ’s instead came up a few times... My niece is just outside of Pakenham since the spring, we had a sewing machine & workbench to drop off Friday, we then cut thru to Calabogie on our way to Bancroft and any road we got lost on had excellent pavement & Twisties. We made it again Saturday night back to her place for a supper. I found out I can do this with the mess of pictures I get when the shutter gets stuck. 32 pictures on the first car to do a pass, Having an unlimited buffer available makes this a piece of cake. |

Neat photo stitching but... Boy, did he blow that corner. Missed the apex by a mile!
Looks like you were near where I usually place my chairs. They do 3, some years 4 passes so I like to walk over to the Iron Bridge to catch at least one pass in this direction. |

Just picked up a Sigma 135 f/1.8 ART and hoping to use it for a wedding in Vegas later this year. Took it out yesterday and I'm not mad it. Versus the Sigma 24-35 f/2 ART: The bokeh on the 135 is nuts: Part of me is really hoping I can use this 2.6lb monster to replace my Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 but a bigger part of me knows how useful that lens is even at 2.8 with VR. Photographer problems amirite?

Impressive. 70-200 is hard to replace with primes. It takes you from a long normal to short-to-mid tele in one package. Mine’s a Nikkor f4. Don’t really need the low light capability nor the weight for what that lens does.

I need as much low light capabilty as I can get (which is why 2.8 is the slowest of all the lenses I own). Shooting weddings is fun but you need the stops when you can get them. Nothing like the light you can gather at 3200ISO at f/2 or faster And I say this as an OCF whore lol. Even the couple pictures above have a Godox flash, camera right.
