Your 2020 has that flap? My 2015 doesn't, and I haven't noticed it on the other ones I've spent significant time with (but those are mostly pre-refresh).

Looking at marketing photos, I only see it on one:

But not on any of these:

I wonder if this was a minor change introduced in 2019 or 2020? Or if the factory stopped building different versions based on markets, and commonized this part for everyone.

Edit:

Clearly visible on Subaru UK site:

I learned something today.

Yes, my 2020 has the flap. From the DIY forum, you can get your own flap.

No bloody "ment" included in the word!

The current rocker panel is flat all the way to the slight flair at the rear quarter. It doesn't have a big edge sticking out a couple of inches beyond it. That thing is DOOMED

What flap? There is no flap.
Unless you mean the mud guards but that is a whole different thing.

It looks like they added a flap in 2020! European models might have had the flap longer.

I'll add I much prefer this black flap as part of the fender liner vs the painted one on the teaser video. I could ignore the black one, but the painted one is going to stand out.

@gpvecchi do you remember which article this came out of?

I still do not understand what "flap" you are referencing. I have a 2020 and it has no "flaps" other than the stock mudguards.

You mean this?
It isn't visible in any way. Certainly isn't a "flap" of any kind.

The thing at the 2 o'clock position behind the rear wheel.

Maybe installing mud flaps deletes the "wheel arch extender".

perhaps you're not having a bad day maybe I'm lucky with road conditions over here as the side skirts that I installed years ago on my 240SX which stuck out big time never really got such treatment, but to me it really doesn't appear to stick out any more so our current twins...or at the very least it doesn't stick out as much as the current twins with either tS/RS/aftermarket side skirts attached.

I don't have a tS. It may be hardly a flap, but I believe it is exactly what c4rbon is talking about and will be something similar on the next model.
