I'm not a fan of Lake Maggiore or most other tracks that were "new" for GT7.

If track location is up to me, I'd say that I probably spend 80% of my time on the Nordschleife, Road Atlanta, Spa, Interlagos, Watkins Glen and Suzuka. (Honestly 60% of the time its just Ring and RA lol).

I've got a crew of 4-5 guys that get together (most) Mondays and Thursday nights for racing. Usually 8-10ish pm EST. Prob going to start a casual league soon with a variety of formulas, but nothing superfast. I think everyone that's active in GT7 (on this forum) are PSN friends with me, so if interested at all let me know.

For the last set of weekly challenges before the current set, I ended up checking off my first challenge reward at the same time I hit my daily workout. I got the workout reward and the UI said I obtained the challenge reward but it never showed up in my garage. I did the other 4 challenges and didn't get the other 2 rewards despite them all showing complete.

I received my workout award simultaneously with a weekly challenge award many times with no issue but it was always either the 2nd or 3rd challenge reward that would come at the same time.

So avoid hitting your workout reward and the initial (1 of 3) weekly challenge reward in the same race/event! I heard this issue is a known bug but PD can't figure out why it happens when it does.

I'd be interested for Thursday nights if I'm not doing anything on that particular day.

The immersion with VR2 is great. But there is a big downside, which I don't know if its pat of the design, or just an oversight.

The downside is that you can't see when other people pit, how far in the lead, or how far off the pace you are.
This is the part can't really decide if it's by design, since technically split times aren't really displayed for the driver, rather it is the race engineer who shares those stats. So why Polyphony hasn't added a race engineer or something to aid pit strategy.

Shift indicators; I can go by sound, but I can't possibly memorize the absolute peak redline of all cars. Some cars have an indicator on the wheel/dashboard, but not all of them, and since I can no longer see my wheel, I can sometimes miss an upshift. To add to that, the gear that you're in is displayed in an awkward location where you have to look up a small number that is sort of blurry rather than immediately down and see the big clear number.

Resolution can also suffer if the headset moves slightly, or if your forehead begins to sweat and the rubber padding begins to slide. Aside from the fact that what is recorded on the replay (1080P) is not exactly what you see, since resolution tends to feel like you're playing at 720p at times.

Aside from the high price tag, I would recommend the VR if you're looking for increased immersion. Because it is truly something else. Driving the Nurburgring its way scarier, Eau Rouge on Spa feels like driving the real thing, the downhill on Road Atlanta is jarring, just to mention a few. But not for image fidelity, or complete race feedback.

The headband can get uncomfortable after about an hour of playing so breaks are strongly recommended. Plus once it begins to slide, you have to tighten it, which becomes even more uncomfortable.

The headset is also wired, not a deal breaker for me, but I have seen some feedback where it is quite cumbersome. The tradeoff of a wireless setup would be high input lag.

Cool

That's one of my biggest gripes in the game. When using cockpit view, 90% of the time YOU CAN'T READ THE INSTRUMENTS. And what's even more infuriating to me is that the game already includes a fix for that. When the headlights are on the instrumentation is lit up and we can see it. But the game doesn't let us turn on the headlights. Truly amazing.

Also the lack of an option to have an aftermarket interior tachometer is annoying. Anything swapped with the 4 rotor engine effectively has no tachometer. Ditto my souped up S2000 with an 11,000 redline. Tach in the car is meaningless. Anyone that actually did mods similar to this IRL would install an aftermarket tach!

There's some janky stuff going on with RPMs. I did a bunch of experimenting a while ago with the GR86 trying to figure out which mods made which change to the redline. It's a pain since a bunch are irreversible and it doesn't tell you what the changes will be before you make them. Every other mod moves it up a little. The rub is that regardless of how high the redline seems to be.... the sound frequency stays the same. The car gets nastier sounding but its making the same engine speed sound regardless of what the revs appear to be per the tach

I do not recommend using the Ferrari 458 at Daily Race B. Too ass-happy, but feels sharper than the Mazda 3. Either the Jaguar or Mazda 3 are the way to go.

@spcmafia my experience was pretty much the same. You really need to play with a fan on you. It keeps the sweating down a lot. I also have a harder timing judging tight slow speed corners. Overall it does make for a much more enjoyable experience. I remember hitting the corkscrew in VR for the first time at Laguna. It was pretty cool.

Low B-High C is possibly the worst place to be in Sport Mode.

Very disappointing update. Best part are the new engine swaps. The rest I view as trolling.

That aside I'll be getting together for a race around 8-815 EST tonight at Interlagos. 650 PP and SS tires. Will be 10 minutes of qualifying and 25 minute race. Tire/Fuel set to 1 & 1. If anyone wants to join come on out (PSN is dawson864). Lap times around 1:40 should be competitive.

The updates should rename GT7 to VGT7.
