Here’s one for all the British car enthusiasts. I was watching a recent episode of the British TV show Escape to the Country. I think this episode was first released in 2021. When I saw this car I had to pause the TV to snap this shot with my phone. That’s a pristine nearly 60 year old Ford Consul Corsair. I had a red Dinky Toy one with jeweled headlights, opening bonnet and turning front wheels back around 1964.

'Escape to the country '... You're not thinking of moving to the UK?? Not seen any 60s Ford's lately.. There was a time when mk1 Escorts and Cortinas were every boy racers dream ride.. My in-laws next door neighbour has a prototype Ford Escort Cosworth.. and a V12 E type.. will try to get some snaps next time I see him..

No not moving Over 'Ome. My grandparents were from the Manchester area. I like the show because of the houses and the interesting histories they showcase for the different counties. Just watched an episode where they showcased Lotus in Hethel, Norwich. It's like a mini travelog with houses for sale.

The use of Browns Lane, very interesting.. I have some connections to Browns Lane, knew a few folk who worked there and at Jaguar's engine plant in Radford, Coventry.

A Mark II, Ya, close enough. I think they stopped production in 68. However, Wikipedia lists the "S" type to 1969. I can't tell which it is from the side. A Jaguar expert probably would.

As I've mentioned my good friend Tom runs a Jaguar parts and restoration business. Many moons ago he bought an "S" type sedan to restore but it literally broke in the middle when he tried to drag it out of it's shed. So he rebuilt the drive train and stuffed it into a "D" type replica. He's had this thing doing an indicated 160 MPH! Not bad for 60 year old parts in a 30 year old kit car.

Another bunch of cars near my work.. Aston, Rolls and a Merc parked within a few metres of each other.. The Rolls looked rather neglected wearing a gold spirit ecstacy.. The Merc looked well used..
