Lucky, my kids hate riding in the brz haha
They keep complaning that they can't see out of the windows and how spacious our minivan is in comparison

Looking at my gen 2, I'm not sure how I would have put my kids in there beyond age 4~5. I'm not a tall person, but the gap between the front and back seat is minimal. As an empty-nester, carrying kids is no longer an issue and the seats work as a nice parcel shelf. Pretty sure no human will ever sit there while I own the car.
Don't have (and never will) a Gen 2 but there isn't much change anyway. The back seat is fine for small children with skinny legs. Can manage with an adult for short distances but it is far from comfy. Road trips are right out of the question!

I'm probably the one who actually puts people in the back the most. I've tested the new one and can only go by what my mom said since she's usually the one there. My mom prefers the newer car here. Don't know if it's because it's better there because of the seats of whether the new BRZ is just softer.

That said "not tall" is relative. I'm the tallest in my immediate family but I'm somewhere between 5'5 and 5'6. My dad is 5'4 and my mom is 5'2. If most of the people you're putting in the back are my parent's height, the back seat room is tolerable, never comfortable though.

I am only 6' tall and even for my 4 year old to sit behind me I have to move my driver seat forward in an uncomfortable position. I can't imagine even a 10 year old or any adult for that matter being able to sit behind me
