Yeah me too, cool how they kept some of the tradition flowing through. I’d love to test drive one to see what it’s like. I guess that might be 12 months away.

Am I the only one who thinks the center console looks like it was laid out in reverse? Several newer cars have a "wall" like that along one side of the console, but it's always on the passenger side to include the center console controls in the area defined as the cockpit for the driver. This seems to make the shifter and controls part of the passenger's area.

It would make perfect sense in a right-hand drive market. Anyone seen how the console is oriented in one of those?

Same issue in the RHD version.

Maybe the intent was not to aesthetically "include" the console in the driver's space but to provide a very functional knee brace on both sides???

Only if you're a mutant or alien who has 9" femurs and ridiculously long shins.

Design is totally global nowadays.

The Supra is based on a Calty concept (SoCal) then tweaked for production in Japan.

The 86 is based on a French (Toyota ED2 studio) concept, then further refined at Calty, then Japan.

The Gundam-on-steroids Honda Civic Type-R was designed in Torrance CA at Honda North America R&D in comparison.

I have the opportunity to be in a new Supra and personally, I think that looks way better in person. Agreed with HKz that the Supra and FR-S/BRZ /86 both cars are a great looking. One thing that catch my attention was that inside of the cabin of the Supra you feel more cramped than on the 86. I'm short guy (you can tell in the picture) and still feeling that, I wonder how a tall guy will feel inside there, but the interior definitively looks refined, in fact looks totally BMW. But I don't thing this is a bad thing, instead looks nice. The color I saw was also a very nice choice: it was this "Phantom" color that looks like a metallic dark gray-matte and fits perfect on Supra. Did I pay $65K (CAD)for it? If it was a manual version and if I have the money, definitively yes! Still loving my 86 after known the Supra? Of course! with all my heart!

@Pedro13 - I'm kind of partial to the orange one behind you. Mine was silver.

No, I wish I did. The picture in my profile is from a sales brochure. Mine was a '77 that I bought in the spring of '78. I traded it in '80 for the "redesigned" Celica GT Liftback. Should've kept the '77. But the 86 helps.

Honestly, I love the cramped cockpit feeling. It feels like a MobileSuit.
