JDL fan shroud vs Mishimoto fan shroud

Hello,

Just picked up a turbo kit and I'm researching fan shrouds for the OEM radiator. I saw some people say the Mishimoto fan shroud was no good but these posts were lacking in detail as to why/how so I'm wondering if the JDL is worth the extra scratch?

Use case:
2017 86, I don't wan't more than 300whp on e85. Occasional autox not really any track. Already have oil cooler.

thanks! Tried searching using google and couldn't find any definitive answers.

I have the Mishimoto slim fan shroud. Have not used it, but it's installed.
It fit well, obviously easy to install, plug and play fans are nice. The welds are absolutely ugly, but they aren't holding liquid so they'll do.

If the price is similar, support JDL and get a fantastic product instead. I have no data on these fans yet

In darkpira7e I trust. It's about $200 less for the mishimoto.

Ah I did not see that the fans were additional cost on the JDL shroud. I am certain it is still worth the cost over the Mishimoto shroud and fans.

I have the Mishimoto shroud and its fine for the job it does,( the Mishimoto fans are not that great though).
I've added Spal fans, and simply cut bigger apertures into the Mishimoto to allow the larger diameter Spals to fit.
Still holding together fine, no signs of fatigue or failure.

Were you overheating with the mishimoto fans?

Yeah, under hard use at lowish speeds, but to be fair the car is supercharged.
If you compare a high volume Spal next to the Mishimoto fan, the difference is quite amazing (and ideally run a direct power source from the battery or similar)

i run the Mishimoto Radiator/shroud on my JDL turbo. Coolant temps are about 195-210 while driving/stopping. Also run their oil cooler (mishimoto) and oil temps stay about 185-205 driving/stopping. in arizona heat

I went with mishimoto only because plug and play convenience. If you are good with wiring go with JDL. Also I live in CT so I'm not too worried about my temps when the turbo is install because it gets cold up here majority of the time and this car is my daily year round.

I just installed the JDL Slim Fan Shroud, build quality is amazing. Only issue I'm having is figure out the wiring part. Was told a 14 amp relay is what I need (if anyone done this already let me know)
