Scrap both. If he in the future ends up selling the car; is it worth it to swap the OEM lines back on? Will selling used aftermarket lines be worth the hassle of swapping the OEM parts back on and replacing lost fluid for a car with such poor resale value?

Keep them if you want piece of mind in the back of your head should your current brake lines fail... but, even then it is only a better safe than sorry mindset.

scrap both. you're never going to re-use old pads, and the likelihood of pulling, replacing, and re-bleeding the entire brake system is a pretty large stretch for stainless steel lines that cost less than $200 for a whole set.

Totally agree. Safety > sorrow.

But yeah. Toss 'em.

Yeah those are good points. Plus OEM lines probably aren’t super pricey if I absolutely had to swap back someday.

I'm super leery of braided lines chafing but I have no long-term experience. That's the only reason I would save the stock ones. Plus I already have a couple boxes of shit I'll never use again. Would be easy to toss a set of brake lines in with the rest of it.

Yeah but those are untested ones. How much for a known good set?

I only have them because a friend won them at the Norcal86 Summer Kickoff raffle but didn't have a twin yet and wasn't planning to get the PP (these lines were for the OEM Brembo system), so they gave them to me, then I just had them swapped in when I had a shop do my last brake fluid change.

But yeah hopefully they're reliable enough to last.

Roughly $20.03 each corner for OEM.

Random Thoughts - Part Deux [NO POLITICS]

Getting closer to done. Outside is almost done, need 3-4 more yards of gravel, put expanded steel on the foundation vents and put hand rails on the porches. Inside is just little BS. Outlets, plug covers, install backsplash, hook up sinks and toilet.

if he's selling, it doesn't matter how bad they bulge, as long as they don't leak!
