Registered as soon as it opened yesterday (I'm Jesung). If the advanced driving clinic was any indication, this will be a great day. Gotta get my brakes upgraded by then though!

Awesome, I'll see you there!

Never a bad idea to upgrade your pads and fluid, but you should be pretty ok on stock brakes for a first lapping day. I would still try to get them done before, but it's no reason to not come if you can't get parts in time for any reason.

From my beginner experience last year, with hybrid pads and better fluid, the stock tires got greasy by the end and were more limiting.

Watching @BatStig video where he is braking downhill and wheels are locking is exactly what I was experiencing. Also the same looseness on corner exit haha. I didn't slap my steering wheel though

Three years on the OEM rubber was a great learning experience, but you can't brake worth a damn without activating ABS and they definitely do get greasy!

I FINALLY upgraded my rubber to 215-45-17 RE11A's and after one track day I am very happy with them. My braking zones are bordering on ridiculous now. They rate at which I am able to outbrake other cars is crazy! I was having a ball through turns 13-16.

All that said, my right foot still can't behave itself through the hairpin.

I hope I can figure out a way to make it to this lapping day. Damn, do I love the DDT!

Just curious how you're able to draw a slip angle comparison between the two tires??? What vertical load is that based on? Do you have access to a tire testing machine? Or is this comparison solely based on your feeling? Seems rather strange to state "slip angle" as a comparison point w o tire data. Id be surprised (and impressed) if you weren't describing g's and tire slippage.

Holy fourth degree, Batman! I am not trying to compare tires. I am not trying to make a detailed review. I have no data showing vertical loads, G's or slippage. No testing equipment. I just made a simple observation based on how they felt.

I don't want to derail this thread for a lapping day with an analytical discussion of "slip angles" and such. That discussion is better suited for this thread: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84188

I will edit my post and see my way out with one last bit on topic: I hope I am able to get my shit straight and join everyone at this event! Looks like a good time and DAMN do I love the DDT!

Sorry!!! What's your experience level? Beginner is really meant for people that have zero track experience. If you've been on a track before and know how to follow a decent line then you'll be totally fine in the intermediate group.

If you're a total beginner and still interested, shoot me your full name, email and car and I'll add you to the wait list.

I'm looking to upgrade my pads before I head to the track this year.

Which pads should be considered for a street car that will head to the track a couple times this year and a handful of autox events?

Are you ok with a bit of noise on the street, or do you want totally silent?

If you're ok with the odd squeek, I would go with Ferodo DS2500, Project mU HC800+, Carbotech AX6 or XP8 (XP8 being more aggressive) or WinMax W3 or W4 (W4 being more aggressive).

TougeTuning carries Ferodo, JRP carries Project mU, Ewald Performance (http://www.ewaldperformance.com/) carries Carbotech, but I'm not sure if anyone localish carries WinMax.
